Each and every one of us has a conscious and a subconscious mind. The conscious mind helps us to make conscious decisions, decisions about things that we have physical control over, for example whether to pick something up, whether to run or walk.

The subconscious mind is pretty much out of our control to a point. This system also called the autonomic nervous system, controls all the bodily systems which we don’t have to think about, like digestion, breathing and blood circulation.

The brain consists of a number of organs, all of which carry out particular functions in the body. Speech, balance, sight, emotions, are all the product of the brain’s processing power and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

It has been known for many years now that The Limbic \system which controls emotional responses, plays a very important role in emotion, it is the nerve centre for everything we experience emotionally sending signals to the body to cry, to laugh, to feel happy or sad.

In this system, there are two small organ, one on each side of the brain. These are called the Amygdala. These organs make split second decisions within the Limbic system and act like switches or guages…they are either ON or OFF.

The Amygdala’s role in anxiety disorder like panic attacks, phobias, generalised anxiety disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder is to regulate and activate the anxious response. They do this by making a decision based on information past to them by the sensory organs like the ears, eyes or nose.

So, when you see and hear a big dog jumping out at you, the ears and eyes send a message to the Amygdala which then reacts appropriately….OR INAPPROPRIATELY!

You see, this anxiety switch can become re-set at a higher than normal level of anxiety so when the switch isn’t activated, you experience constant, increased levels of anxiety. The Amygdala has become re-set. Your body and mind think that this level of anxiety is completely normal but you KNOW consciously that something isn’t right!

The Amygdala has become reset as a result of something called operant conditioning. Operant conditioning is what the brain uses to ‘learn’ new behaviour or skills. For example, driving, reading or learning to play an instrument; it’s what happens when we learn through repetition.

By being constantly exposed to anxiety producing stimuli or by having a sudden increase in your stress or anxiety levels due to work pressure, bereavement or bullying, for example, the Amygdala is being taught, by repetition, that the new behaviour is 100% appropriate…so it becomes re-set at this new ‘instinctual’ level.

This is where anxiety disorder, panic attacks, phobias and obsessions step in.
As anxious people, we then become scared of the symptoms, that fear produces symptoms, the symptoms produce fear, the fear produces symptoms and so on ad infinitum!

So we become trapped in an anxious cycle and very little could break it…till recently!

So, do you see that anxiety disorders like panic attacks are not in fact, mental illnesses, they are in fact, behavioural conditions fuelled by deep seated habit! It’s that simple.

Medication isn’t the answer…neither is deep psychotherapy or hypnosis which just focuses your conscious mind on your subconscious mind. The solution is a structured method of reversing those changes which have been made in the subconscious mind, the Amygdala, eliminating the anxious habit and returning YOUR anxiety gauge back down to an appropriate level.

That’s what we at the Linden Method do and it’s quick, fast and simple.

Your anxiety disorder may produce a myriad of classic anxiety and panic attack symptoms like:

1. Rapid heart beat, pounding heart or palpitations
2. Sweating
3. Shaking visibly or inside
4. Choking sensations or lump in throat
5. Smothering or shortness of breath sensations
6. Chest pain or discomfort
7. Nausea, bloating, indigestion or abdominal discomfort
8. Dizziness or unsteadiness
9. Feeling light-headed
10. Derealisation (feeling unreal or dreamy)
11. Depersonalisation (feeling outside yourself or like you don't exist)
12. Fear of losing control or going crazy
13. Paresthesias (numbness or tingling sensations) in face, extremities or body
14. Chills or hot flushes
15. Skin losing colour
16. Blushing or skin blotches
17. Urgently needing to urinate or defecate

You may also have disturbing thoughts about harming yourself or others; you may have thoughts of a sexual nature. You may also have compulsions or feelings of depression, thoughts about death or illness.

We can assure you right now that these are ALL very common symptoms of an anxiety disorder, and, in fact, we doubt you could ever tell us anything that we don’t know…we have had them all, weird and wonderful thoughts and sensations which are ALL anxiety based.

Charles Linden knows how it is to be anxious, what it is to suffer from the moment you open your eyes to the moment you eventually fall asleep; he knows what it is to be scared, alone and desperate and that is why he now provides The Linden Method to each and every person who needs it, its success is undeniable, its support sytstem is second to none and no other anxiety solution resource provides this service.

Charles always says to us that we should NEVER quit, and we don’t, our quest to eliminate each and every sufferer’s condition doesn’t end until we know they are well again.

Because we have identified the solution, there is no question that this might not work. It works for each and every person who does it as long as they comply. It couldn’t be simpler!

The Amygdala is a vital organ, it is what protects us from harm under many circumstances, but unfortunately even well oiled machines require maintenance sometimes, it’s now time for you to do just that.
