Setting goals is the secret weapon of the most successful people in the world. They have all testified that they can attribute their success to have properly setting specific goals and followed their plan from the beginning. Setting your goals is the first step to achieving success and must be done.

Not having a goal and plan is like boarding an airplane and having no clue where you are going or what you are going to do once you get there, oh and you didn’t pack anything either. This is not necessarily a good idea in case anyone is wondering. Spontaneous yes, but I don’t recommend being that spontaneous.

Here are things to consider when developing your goals:

Identify your passion and purpose. What could you do all day and not notice the day go by?
Make them realistic and attainable. Don’t set yourself up for disaster, but still create a challenge.
Include a time frame and deadline.
Determine what skills and knowledge you need.
Write it down and express it positively.
Display it where you can be reminded daily.
Track your progress.
Identify how achieving this goal will benefit your life.
So if you are wanting to become successful in anything that you set out to do, make sure that you plan for it to ensure your success. This will also give you more momentum for future success and increase your confidence to pursue further opportunities.

“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail” ~Benjamin Franklin
