“Time” is an interesting concept. Someone has rightly said it is the most elastic element found in nature – It stretches longer when you are waiting for something but is really seems to run out when you are heading toward deadlines. To manage an element which is has such great impact is not only difficult but also very challenging. Time management plays a vital role in determining the success or failure of any business. It revolves around the strategic planning and efficient implementation of those plans. Managing time efficiently is not everybody’s cup of tea. It requires special skills to efficiently manage one’s time. Time management is a very vital element in deciding the success of the business but it was given less importance in business until most recently, mainly because there was less competition in business as compared to today. Meeting deadlines was not in people’s priority list until the past few decades.
Today businesses have realized that time management is one of the major tools to help them have an edge over the competition. Nothing like a complete monopoly exists in the world any more. The degree of competition varies from industry to industry. Moreover large number of females have entered this corporate, male dominated world and with this increased the need for better time management skills and tools. Women, apart from meeting the responsibilities of house have started proving themselves as better managers compared to their male counterparts. This has given rise to a major problem of not being able to meet “Work life balance”. Which means, need for managing the time more efficiently arose; so that one could allocate equal time to the household and at the same time prove themselves in their careers.
Time management is a wider topic including, proper planning and implementation, working out strategies, meeting deadlines, working out work life balance, increasing the productivity and efficiency. efficient time management directly affects the bottom line of any business’ “Profits”. The better skills you have relative to managing your time, the larger number of projects or tasks are available for you to work on. And, the demand for you in the work force increases. All these factors sum up to contribute to the profits of any business. Everything revolves around managing the time and efforts efficiently.
