Boeing 100 Years Celebrations Boeing is celebrating its 100 years and the Independent Museum of Flight in Seattle has lined up series of activities all year round to mark the year. The museum will be unveiling a huge (3 acres, $23m worth) Aviation Pavilion with a number of historically important Boeing aircrafts on display. Chief among them will be the Boeing Model 247, the first all-metal airliner, built in 1933, and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the first all-composite airliner.rnMilitary aircrafts such as the World War II-era B-29 and B-17 will also be on display, among various other prototypes. If you plan on joining the celebrations, you certainly don’t want to miss visiting the Alaska National Parks. The Aniakchak National Monument & Preserve is a place few have ever visited, and it’s pristine. However this park is not for everyone because it is located 450 miles southwest of Anchorage on the Alaska Peninsula, and it’s inaccessible by car, only by sea or air. It is home to a 2,500-foot-deep caldera that is 6-mile wide. This site is for primitive camp lovers as it has no modern camping facility. Wrangell St. Elias National Park is another place that offers solitude for holiday travelers looking to calm their nerves and escape the hustling and bustling of the city for a while. With more than 13 million acres, it is by far the largest US national park. National Blues Museum The National Blues Museum finally opened in April. It’s a 23,000-square-foot museum that allows visitors to follow the historical migration of the blues as well as compare and sample music from various regions. A tour through the museum will give you a more intimate understanding of the unique style of bluesparticular to various regions of the world. You also get a chance to build your own blue riffs as well as learn how to play in a jug band. The museum has a performance hall that host concerts and live artists performance. Lexington Kentucky Still on museums, the 21c Museum Hotels is set to come on board with its fifth branch in Lexington. It comes packed with 3 unbeatable combos of contemporary art museum, boutique hotel and restaurant. It is housed in the historic Fayette National Bank Building in Lexington, mixing tradition with the flavours of modernity. Oh, and don’t forget the horses and bourbon, that has been attracting tourists for decades. And if you prefer beer, the Brewgrass Trail has about six stops that will delight you with Lexington’s beer craft. The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture If you’ve always wanted to understand the African American experience, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture is the place to visit. It is set to open this year after 4 years of construction. It houses a great collection of exhibits that transcends the boundaries of race and culture and aims to heal divisions and promote unity. Some of the collections of exhibits that will be on display are temporarily on display at the Smithsonian’ National Museum of American History and you can go get a view there if you will be visiting the US before the museum opens. Pearl Harbor If you want to understand some of America’s History, the National Museum will be holding an educational tour for seven nights from 1st of December to 8th of December in Hawaii. The educational tour is designed to mark the 75th year of the Pearl Harbor attack by the Japanese that brought the US into the Second World War. The tour will be led by historians and it includes visit to the historic site and a four-part symposium.rnThe trip will cost participants $8,995 and they will also be guests at a ceremony in remembrance of the attack at USS Arizona.
