Canada is home to more than 900 historical sites that are owned by different custodians including the government, business houses, historical societies and individual Canadian citizens. We created this article based on the historical value of the sites along with the quality of visitor’s experience. Grab the best flight deals and take a trip down Canada’s past at these wonderful sites.

Camp Hughes, Manitoba

Camp Hughes served as a training ground during the First World War and as a base for the Canadian Army before the attack on Vimy Ridge. Camp Hughes is one of the few sites in the world where you can find WWI style trenches, preserved from its time as a training camp. Today, it is open to visitors.

Saint-Louis Fort, Quebec

Score some cheap flight tickets to Quebec and discover this historical landmark that traces its history back to 1600s when it was chosen as a high ground by Samuel Champlain to keep a look over the city. It was an important administrative center back in its time. Today, it offers some of the most scenic views of the St. Lawrence River.

Inuksuk Point, Nunavut

On the western side of Baffin Island, there are about 100 inuksuk of varied sizes divided into 2 groups. Many of them are very old, some even up to 2,000 years. Most of the inuksuk here are not as huge as you will see on most of the travel brochures but simpler forms of stones.

L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland

It’s very easy to get excited thinking about a bunch of Vikings who washed up on our shores. Located on the southern tip of Newfoundland, this famous settlement is regarded as a solid proof of the fact that the Norse managed to reach North America.

Ninstints, British Columbia

Located on the Queen Charlotte Islands, the striking Haida totem poles are the only thing left of Ninstints village after its residents were hit by smallpox as traders migrated west. The wooden monuments are looked after by the descendants of the original population of the village, referred to as Haida Gwaii Watchmen.

Fort San, Saskatchewan

Hop on a cheap flight to Saskatchewan and visit Fort San that is known for its brutal history as a sanatorium for patients suffering from tuberculosis. It was established in the year 1917 during World War One. The purpose behind opening the sanatorium was to provide a shelter for the contagious patients. However, the medical treatments provided didn’t prove to be effective and later it garnered the reputation of the most haunted site in the town.

Signal Hill, Newfoundland

Almost every Canadian must have heard the phase “through the air and across the sea” at some point in their lives while recalling the first ever transatlantic message sent from the peak of St. John. Today, the hill is a popular hiking site and offers some of the most stunning views of the city.

Blanc-Sablon, Quebec

Located on the easternmost side of Quebec, the town was founded in the year 1534 by Jacques Cartier. Although, the town has been occupied for more than 9,000 years. Book cheap airline tickets to Quebec and discover the rich historical artifacts with more than 60 sites from European, Dorset and Archaic settlements.
