Open wounds can be classified as the condition of skin in which it exposes innermost parts with bleeding. There are four different types of wounds in which surgeons and paramedical staff us surgical suture. The first type of wound is named as abrasions. This type of wound is made by rubbing or scraping of the skin on hard, uneven or rough edges or surface. In abrasions, bleeding does not occur too much. Wounds which open and cause heavy bleeding are known as incisions. Incisions are rather more serious wounds than the first one. Usually cut caused by rough edges of knife, metal, broken glass or razor blades etc. These cuts are deep and become responsible for exposing the muscles. Third type of wounds is punctures. As the name suggests it create hole into the skin usually by needles etc. Punctures also do not cause too much bleeding but expose the inner part of the skin. The fourth type of wound is can be considered as the most the serious one. Avulsions are usually called by animal bite. In this type of wound tissues of skin are partially tear away which can cause severe damage to the skin and can cause heavy bleeding. All these wounds require immediate attention and in most of the some sort of surgical procedure is also required in order to help the skin heal quickly. Surgical suture are such medical device which is used to hold the body tissues after an injury or surgery. Usually surgical suture consists of a needle with a length of thread. Over the years different materials are used to develop a reliable suture. Suture are usually made with plant materials such flax, hemp and cotton. Suture is usually made by the animal material such hair, tendons, arteries and muscle strips etc. At the other needles are also made by various materials such as bone and metals like silver, copper and aluminum etc. There are thousands of pharmaceutical companies throughout the world producing various surgical instruments.
