Just several days ago, I celebrated the 29th anniversary of what once was called, The Royans School for the Musical Performing Arts.

In 1987, the school changed its name and profile and became the world renowned, The Royans Professional Vocal School, specializing in singing, speech and voice repair. So generally speaking, primarily in voice, in whichever shape or form, identifies the state of the human being and reflects on the human’s identity.

Serving vocally and otherwise, estimated now, over 20,000 people, I could see how their personalities and their relationships with their parents, boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses and even just friends, in turn reflect on their, so to speak, vocal state of being. The voice is the hardest instrument to power.

Even on an everyday basis, the person who did not sleep well or, so to speak, woke up on the wrong side of the bed, might not be coherently speaking or wonderfully singing for that matter in the upcoming day.

The tone, the brightness, pronunciation, enunciation, and whichever other qualities of the voice, will definitely be effected and maybe, even by the weather…

I have a lot of couples, especially the “baby boomers” kind, coming for singing and especially for voice repair sessions.

Those couples that have a harmonious and balanced relationship usually have less trouble with anything, as they support each other intellectually and emotionally and thus, for any of them to even overcome a voice repair of whichever kind, is much easier.

Needless to say, it is much easier and more pleasurable to work with people like that from my side as well.

Sometimes though, one spouse or their children cause the voice problem, as all of it is primarily emotionally induced, and then, it has the tendency to manifest in whichever weaker functioning organ of their physical bodies. Obviously, when they travel to me, it concerns their voice and vocal abilities.

Given all of the above, my advice to my readers would be to avoid the stressful situations and confrontations with the people you are in any sort of the relationship with; to avoid not only the voice problems, but any other health related problems.

If you do feel that all of the “collisions” are unavoidable, my advice would be to become “selfish” and take care of yourself, using whichever means necessary, and even the most drastic ones –

DISENGAGE!!!

YOU NEED YOUR VOICE AND YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO VOICE IT!!!
