When many women think about the symptoms of pregnancy, they often associate it with a missed period. However, they may be surprised to know that missed period is not the top symptom of pregnancy. There are many before missed period signs of pregnancy. These include:
1. Elevated basal body temperature
The basal temperature of the body elevates after ovulation. It usually stays ovulated beyond the next expected period. Ovulation happens when a mature egg is released from the ovary and is usually pushed down to the fallopian tubes. This is now ready to fertilize by the sperm. When the fertilized egg implants itself, 6 to 12 days are taken.
2. Increased breast size, nipple enlargement and breast tenderness
There are many changes that are noticed. There is increased tenderness and swelling in the nipples and breast. This is one of the classic signs of pregnancy. These changes are noticed by many women and the entire blame is put on the uncomfortable or ill-fitting bra or any other piece of clothing. However, a sensitive woman will surely notice these changes as they are. She will realize the new life which is growing inside her. The area around the nipples known as the areola will darken and enlarge. These changes take place because many hormones are released in the body. This all is for anticipating the new life within. It is said by some experts that if the areolas are darkened, the child can find the nipple very easily. After birth, the changes of the breast and nipple come back to normal.
3. Nausea and Vomiting
This is also known as morning sickness. These are the most common before missed period signs of pregnancy. This is a very uncomfortable and early sign of pregnancy. All women are targeted by this. However, this occurs very earlier. Morning sickness is experienced by half the women who are expecting. Sometimes, vomiting may not be included in this. However, only nausea is featured. The hormone levels are increased in the body. doctors say that morning sickness is very good as it shows that the baby is growing properly and is having a healthy growth.
4. Constipation
This is another overlooked and subtle sign of pregnancy. In this, there are less than three bowel movements per week. The level of the hormone progesterone constantly changes. The movement of food is also slowed down through the digestive system. A havoc is created with the timing and frequency of bowel movements.
