What is success?

I ask this because it is a interesting thought exercise. What is it?

How do you define success?

Is it the money we earn? Is it being happy? Is it the sense of accomplish that we experience after achieving our goals?

Is it defined by the number of relationships and friendships a person has? Having a large social circle? Being able to influence many and produce results? Having a self-zen achieved by self-growth and reflection?

Is success a product of hard work and opportunity or is it something greater? Is it something less? Is it waking up each day and giving it your all until you are too tired to keep going? Is it enjoying your day in the way that you want to by participating in your favorite activities and hobbies?

Defining success is something that I believe is important; if you want to be successful and you don't know what success is, then how to you obtain that goal? By defining your purpose, setting a goal, and striving to reach this goal, that is when life is good.

Here is how I define success: success is setting a goal and then working towards that goal with an intent of going the distance to finish the project. A person who is successful is strong and does not worry about failure. I will succeed when I give something my all and hope for the best. It might work out and it might not, but the effort that I give is most important. Success to me is giving it my all and having a sense of achievement after the fact.

There are many variables that need to be considered in this equation, but there is one thing that is constant: the definition of success is different for each person!
