Dinner Etiquette
By Michelle Rossi

People are pretty busy in today’s society, but when it comes down to you inviting guests over for dinner, you may want to invest some time in learning about dinner etiquette. There are many do’s and don’ts to help you avoid similar common errors that most people make. For example, there is a proper way to set the dinner table. What do you think the guests will think if they see a properly set table? What would you think if you sat down to an invited dinner and experienced food presence set for a king? They will remember your dinner forever. Listed below is an example of how to set a table properly.

• The napkin should be placed to the guests left
• The dinner fork should be set closest to the napkin
• The salad fork should be next to the dinner fork closest
to the dinner plate
• The knife should be on the right side with the cutting
edge closest to the dinner plate
• The soup spoon should be placed next to the knife
• The soup bowl should be placed on top of the dinner plate
• The bread plate should be placed above the forks to the
left side of the guest
• Dessert spoon and cake fork should be place side ways
above the dinner plate
• The water glass should be next to the dessert spoon and
fork above the knife
• The white wine glass should follow
• The red wine glass will follow the white wine glass

Using these guidelines may help you look like host that knows the most!
