Life Transformation: How To Make It Last!

A life transformation is when someone makes a conscious decision to change an area of their life, whether that be a relationship, career, or changing any negative personal habits like smoking or drinking a lot of caffeine.

A life transformation is really changing your whole belief, ideas, or thoughts around a certain topic.

I like to think I made a life transformation when I decided that I was going to start taking responsibility for my life and the choices I make. Since I did that, I have been able to radically change my life around, because now I was making better decisions and I began taking action on my goals and dreams.

Yes, I could’ve slipped back and started complaining about things, however, because I woke up, so to speak, to the reality that I did not want to live any more in the way I was living, and I knew in my heart there was a better way, I made a life transformation.

So, how can you make a life transformation that last?

The way to make it last is by looking at what the results will be if you do go back to your old way of living.

My father smoked for 35 years. I pestered him about smoking and what it was doing to his body and health. He consciously knew what he was doing, and I understood that it was a habit that was very well formed by now in his brain. The interesting thing about it was, one day my father called me and said, “I quit smoking”.

He tried the patch and did not like it. He also tried the nicotine gum and that did not help much. He just decided one day that that was it, no more smoking. He has not smoked a cigarette in 2 and half years. Today, he has a lot of energy. His ability to taste his food has come back, he is also a much happier person, and he never wants to smoke again. That is a life transformation.

Another way to make your life transformation last is by recognizing the good that has come from it. Giving yourself a pat on the back and looking at the world around you and seeing what wonderful things have happened.

It’s unfortunate that many people don’t get congratulated or receives words of praise by loved ones during this time, so we need to do it ourselves. By giving yourself some credit and rewarding yourself and recognizing that you made a change in your life you can make your life transformation last.

Since you were able to make a transformation in your life, you can potentially help someone who may be in the same situation that you were once in.

For a lot of people to change, they sometimes just need to know that someone like them has made a change that they would like to make in their life. Just like the story of Roger Bannister who broke the four minute mile. Once he broke the record, this opened the door for many people to start believing that it was possible for them too.

I know this story has been used many times to make a point, however, it drives the message that people like to see proof that their life situation can change because someone else made that change too.

Next time you think of slipping back into your old ways, think on the good things that have happened in your life because of the changes you’ve made. And for a little extra ammo, give yourself credit for making it this far into your life transformation, and reward yourself for doing so! This is really one of the most powerful ways you can make your life transformation last. Also, a life transformation can be more than changing your life; you can help change the world.
