*** How Your Personality Impacts Your “Mental Potential”

Some people just don’t get it.
Every time they do not get what they want, they blame others. Sometimes they blame the world. And when they are really mad, they point their finger at the entire universe!
Why? Is everyone really out to get you? Did the “universe”, get up out of bed this morning, and REALLY conspire to gang up and kick your behind?
I really don’t believe so, and neither should you. In fact, I believe the universe truly wants you to succeed.
About fifteen years ago, I was going through some difficult times myself. I met a minister at a dinner party. He was about seventy-five years old and over the course of his life had ministered to thousands of people in both their good and bad times, and in times of life and death. As we munched on the finger foods that were brought around, we talked about why so many people have these feelings. One of the things he told me was that a great number of people that he counseled had still not figured out “life”. Even up to the point when they were on their “death beds”!
As I drove home, alone with my thoughts, I reflected on our conversation. How is it that people struggle their entire lives over the dark problems of life, pass away and still never find an answer? It took me a while, but it eventually became clear to me.
During their lives, they became so engrossed in their “self”, and their personality, that they could not see to find their way out of the darkness.
Only when you have conquered your personality, so that your attitude is that of good will toward all creatures, can you possess divine insight. You need to realize that as you think, you become. Avoid people who are impatient, give in easily to anger, are arrogant and who do not practice goodwill and far-reaching compassion. If you are put into situations with them, observe and learn from the experience and use it to further your quest on the path to success.
When you find a person who demonstrates constant gentleness, enduring patience, sublime humility, graciousness of speech, self control, and deep and abounding sympathy, then you have found the highest wisdom.
Take action and seek the company of such persons. Learn from them, and make what you learn part of you. For they have found heaven and happiness within themselves and have become one with the universe.
