Motivation
* Motivation And Inspiration From A Song
By Keith Shaw, the Official Guide To Motivation

In your life, everyday, there are a myriad of things all around you in the universe that can provide you with inspiration and motivation - IF you are ready and willing to receive them. The concentrated, conscious and aware person is ALWAYS on the lookout for these moments – and uses them to their best advantage to get them through both the good and the tough times.

It could be one of your childhood heroes. Or a noble cause supported by a neighborhood fund-raising event. Even the lyrics from a song (or words from a poem) can be employed to motivate and inspire you to get up and take action. And remember, “Every action you take, defines your life”.

Case in point: a life-long friend recently gave me a “Classic Rock” Boxed-CD set for my birthday. In listening and playing “air guitar” along to the songs, there was one song in particular that struck a chord (yes, this pun WAS intended) and made me listen intently. And, as you may have guessed by now, motivated and inspired me to write this article.

The song was called “Keep on Smiling”, by a band called Wet Willie, which came out in the early 1970’s. This “feel-good” song told the stories of people who are faced with a number of life’s challenges and decisions – perhaps you are facing some or all of these challenges right now.

- Your financial situation is not in the “black” and you’re struggling to make ends meet.

- Or, your husband / boyfriend / wife / girlfriend has just told you that it is over and has packed up and moved on with their lives.

- Or, the job that you currently have is mundane and unappreciated.

- Or, you need to make a life-changing decision.

- Or, you just don’t know what you want to do right now – or want to be in the future.

Of course, there are a few things you can do to overcome these issues. One is to “Do nothing and hope for a miracle”. Another is to find a way - when you develop your “will” you will always find a way or make one.

It all boils down to your mental state and your mental power. And, I have composed volumes on the power of your positive thoughts as opposed to thoughts that are negative and destructive.

Many years ago, when I was in my teens I first “learned” this lesson and wrote it down in the quotation that follows. The words exploded like lightning from my mind, shot like electricity down my arm and sparked out of my pen onto the pages of my journal. It eventually became one of the central themes of my success system, The Power Of Thought. Here it is word for word...

“Within your mind, you have the power to create your own heaven – or hell”.

When times are good it is always easy to be positive and upbeat and to persuade your self to believe in and adhere to the principles of peace, tolerance, and love.

However when times are rough and bumpy, you may be more likely to be disoriented, emotionally depressed, indecisive, prejudiced or close minded. Look and study your self and the others around you closely when times are tough and you can begin to identify those who quickly change their thought patterns to one of negativity, finger pointing (“it’s not MY fault”) and betrayal, for example.

MOTIVATE your self to take action.

Show a high level of PERSISTANCE.

ENCOURAGE others to do the same.

Paraphrasing the song… Smile. Laugh. Flow With Life.

And from me to you, “Create your own heaven within your mind”.
