When Self Sabotage Stops Being A Way Of Life
By Nick Arrizza MD CBT

It's no longer necessary to consider self sabotage to be one's lot in life. It's now possible to finally set yourself free, if you have the courage, and reclaim your life by reclaiming your mind and body from the memories of emotional trauma that parasitically feed off of you and your Life Energy.
Have you begun to notice that you tend to repeat negative or unhelpful behaviors that keep you and your life in perpetual "stuckness"?
If so then I sincerely want to congratulate you because recognizing it is the first and most important step to releasing such habits from your existence.
Often an individual has to have enough lived out experience to begin to notice self sabotaging patterns because they tend to manifest in their own time and manner over an extended period. Well, that is if you haven't been too traumatized in your early past.
If you have however, negative events can occur much more frequently and present a greater sense of frustration for you. Unfortunately the mistake that many individuals make is that they start to believe that such negative patterns are actually part of them or their personality. After all they say “It’s my life history!”.
Of course such a belief would usher in the underlying belief that they are in some way defective or bad.
If you carry such a belief about yourself just connect with it for a moment (i.e. I am defective or bad) and notice what it does to you as you tune into it.
You may feel some or all of the following:
(A) A strong feeling of enslavement or entrapment, feelings of frustration, anger or resentment towards the world but likely especially towards yourself, a sense of helplessness and an even deeper sense of hopelessness, like your motivation for life is being depleted or zapped and perhaps if it's really intense you might even notice how this belief is enticing you into giving up.
Now of course this is no way to live is it?
To help you get a certain degree of freedom and detachment from this imprisoning belief I offer you the following question if you have the courage to answer it.
What is the purpose of having this belief living inside you? In other words, what does the belief motivate you to do?
Now initially you'll say, "Nothing, it only serves to destroy me and my life!"
Well yes, that is true but if you delve a bit deeper into your awareness of it's impact on your actions you may start to see that you react in certain ways whenever this belief is in action.
For instance some people may start to punish themselves as a result of holding such a belief.
Now follow me for just a bit with this.
The purpose of punishing one's self is so that one will be “whipped into shape” and therefore learn to become a better person who makes fewer mistakes.
The purpose of becoming a better person is so that they will make better choices, have better outcomes, be more satisfied and fulfilled, be a happier person and feel better about one's self.
So if we summarize what I've outlined above we get that:
(B) The belief that I am a defective or bad person causes me to make better choices, have better outcomes, be more satisfied and fulfilled, be a happier person and feel better about one's self.
How does this correspond with statement (A) above?
Well clearly they are the complete opposite, so which one is really the truth about this belief?
Well clearly when something is clearly toxic (as statement (A) shows unequivocally) then that makes (B) false!
So if you see this try the following:
1. Place your hand over your heart and simply say " I want the false statement (A) above cleared from my mind and body now."
2. With your hand over your heart simply add: "The belief itself that ' I am a defective person' is clearly toxic to me and I also want it purged from my life now".
3. Now finally contemplate how or what you want to be and feel moving forward in your life and write this down using only positive concepts or words. Now envision and feel yourself in this new place and notice how it feels.
At this point most individuals feel some or all of the following:
A sense of lightness, greater sense of presence, more grounded, more peaceful, more resilient, more confident, more focused, a sense of relief, greater clarity, and essentially more in charge of themselves.
In this process what effectively happens is that the Life Force Energy that the negative belief was siphoning out of the person's body returns to the person once the belief and the underlying lie anchoring it in that body are released.
This is equivalent the opposite of the process we call aging and dying where progressively more and more Life Force Energy is depleted from the physical body.
Hence, one important insight here is that the process that we call "living" i.e. that associated with aging and dying is actually the opposite of "living". It is in fact "dying", whereas the process where one's Life Force Energy returns to the physical body is truly "Living".
When there is more Life Force Energy and hence more of "You" in your body clearly You are more able to “steer" your body and life in the direction of health and success.
In other words that's when Mastery begins and self sabotage ends!
