Born and raised in scenic British Columbia, Canada, Amanda received her honors diploma in Medical Assistance in 1995 and then worked as a private health care worker with the ill and elderly for 5 years. After a knee injury, she decided to go back to school to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and Registered Nutritionist Consultant Practitioner. Her goal is to help people of all ages and backgrounds achieve optimal health through nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. Her interest in people and their cultures has taken her all over the world, including the United States, Mexico, South America and Europe on many occasions.
Amanda has presented at several health and wellness shows in British Columbia and Alberta as well as taught small workshops on various nutrition and natural health topics.
Specializing in achieving optimum health through holistic nutrition and the body/mind spirit connection, clients may request guidance in all health areas including prenatal, postnatal, cleansing and detoxifying, immune support and strengthening, child/adult/geriatric nutrition, asthma and allergies, cardiovascular health, urinary problems, reproductive system issues, diabetes, liver problems, sports nutrition, eating disorders, supplementation advice, recipes, vegetarianism, stress management, relaxation techniques, candidiasis, and more!
Amanda's consultations are based on nutritional symptomology. She feels every body is unique and needs individual attention and assessment. Amanda also takes into account stress factors, current exercise levels, family history, medication usage, and previous lifestyle factors, in addition to daily eating habits. Working with the different body systems she helps to bring about balance in the body. Amanda believes the body needs to be treated from a holistic point of view rather than a reductionistic view. With this in mind, she will teach you to use the healing power of good quality, natural, “alive” foods with specific lifestyle changes to attain a revitalized, healthy body.
For the last 3 years, Amanda has written her own HOLISTIC HEALTH newsletter which features in many naturopathic clinics and doctor's offices throughout British Columbia. She also has many private subscribers to this newsletter, which is full of healthy nutrition and lifestyle tips, articles on holistic living, recommended stories and websites, links, recipes, and more. Amanda has also written a monthly article on nutrition for her local newspaper since 2004, and worked as an editor on several nutritional publications.
