It was through his work as a bereavement counsellor that Bob’s practice developed into as it is today.
"I developed some extremely useful skills and understanding, engaging with people who were in crisis and this taught me a great deal.’"
Bob also went on to train and work in trauma and trauma support and subsequently has a significant interest in stress management and in relaxation therapy and believes that complementary therapies may potentially play a valuable part in the treatment of trauma stress and other stress related conditions. "Reflexology was a natural progression from my work in bereavement care’" says Bob. "The link between the mind and body was only too obvious, I could see that clients were holding stress, bereavements and trauma within the body. As we well know, stress can manifest itself as various conditions at these significant points so it followed that if I could train in a therapy, a holistic therapy that was able to treat the mind the sprit and the body then this could potentially have a complete healing effect which may work on many levels."
Bob's therapies may also be useful as part of an integrated care plan and he firmly believs that complementary therapies could prove to be very useful when integrated with counselling and psychotherapies.
"I have found that when clients relax deeply then it may have a positive healing effect Clients will often be surprised just how relaxing the treatments may be. They are often able to identify just where these stresses are held and nurtured. These stresses may often be subsequently, identified challenged and resolved." Bob offers reflexology, reiki, Indian head massage and natural healing
