Brenda Blackburn is an experienced personal development coach and motivational speaker. She attained her Life Coach and Employment Counselor designations through UCFV in BC, while practicing in both capacities professionally (group facilitation with one-to-one) since 1996. Her program development and curriculum writing have met with Private Post-Secondary Education Accreditation guidelines, as well as with federal and provincial criteria necessary for facilitating government contracted Employment and Life Skill programs. As well, she has been a leadership and employee trainer for various corporations since 1991. Her contracts have included employment agencies, non-profit organizations, post-secondary schools, international corporations, a national union, as well as private one-to-one coaching sessions. She also continues to be a guest speaker at various public post-secondary institutions and community organizations.
Her speaking style is enthusiastic, engaging and genuine. Professional and personable, she not only motivates but empowers others to discover their own inspiration they have within themselves.
Brenda's greatest joy has been to watch as her clients have positively transformed their lives, lived their dreams and bettered their worlds, as they created both the present moment and future they desired. These experiences have had such a heart-felt impact on her, that she felt compelled to share the wisdom and philosophy that positively inspired and transformed her life and the lives of many. In answer to clients' requests, she decided to put all of her learning, teachings and insights into a book so that it could be more widely accessible to the public. (For release soon!)
She enjoys writing at home in beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
Update:
In June 2008, Brenda was diagnosed with DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) and subsequent PE (Pulmonary Embolism) and thankfully is well, as it was caught in time. At the time, Brenda had not been aware of DVT, its signs or symptoms, or that it kills more people in America each year then breast cancer and AIDS combined. Therefore, public awareness and patient education has become of utmost importance to her, in order to help save lives. She is a member of NATF's Patient Advocacy Committee.
