Britta Neinast holds a Masters of Social Work from Indiana University and is licensed in the State of Indiana. Britta currently works at Family Concern Counseling providing services to individuals, couples, adolescents, and families dealing with a variety of issues including grief and loss, anxiety, depression, addiction, self-harm and other difficult issues.
On a personal level, Britta lost her father to suicide in 2005. Since that time, she became a certified trainer of SafeTALK and “ASIST” suicide intervention skills training programs provided by LivingWorks. She is heavily involved in suicide prevention efforts in the community as a trainer and speaker. Britta’s story has been featured in a variety of newsletters, articles, and radio spots in an effort to combat the stigma associated with suicide loss. For information on trainings and other efforts, check out Britta's blog!
Through her training and experience, Britta has both professional and personal knowledge as it has deepened her understanding of grief and loss, specifically related to suicide. As a general rule, we often relate grief and loss to the death of a person yet loss is experienced through a variety of reasons, even positive ones. In fact, loss can be at the heart of many, if not most, of the problems we regularly face.
