When I was a teen, I was tired of not being able to focus on my reading for very long before my mind was like a runaway train. It was very disturbing to me because I have always been academic and loved reading. We moved around a lot when I was growing up so I always found the library in every town we moved to. If they had a library, I felt at home. I asked the librarian for some books that could help me understand why I was not able to focus, as I wanted to. She directed me to articles and books on hyperactivity. This was 1963. I was 13 that year.
I was amazed at what I read. I had no idea the foods you eat had such an effect on your system. It was an amazing summer for me. I did not like any dairy products and after reading the books it made sense. Your body will tell you when something is not right for it or if you have certain needs. I also discovered wheat products caused hyperactivity and stopped eating breads. The Nutrition Labeling and Education Act did not pass until November 1990. Before this, products did not have to provide a listing of what was in canned or packaged foods. It was later before they passed laws about adding coloring and other preservatives to meat products.
Here I am years later, many degrees under my belt, and still reading labels and now I am writing articles to help others realize there is more to food then what the commercials tell us. Please read the labels and read articles about hyperactivity. We have to understand what we eat and how it affects us. What we eat today has an effect on how we feel tomorrow. Eating the right foods and watching the chemicals in the foods is not going to guarantee a long life. But your life will be better because you are going to fell better.
We must combine what we have learned with what we know to reach the full understanding of is good for us to eat.
There is no limit to what we can learn but if we do not have to use it to obtain wisdom.
If we know what is in the foods we eat we will feel better about what we are eating.
Rice is the foundation to today's healthy eating.
