Connie Merk is the originator of TRIVAnetics – The Cybernetic Approach To Healing Your Back Pain, a program that uses the healing power of both the body and the mind. Having suffered from excruciating shoulder and back pain for many years herself, she was able to find complete healing by understanding and applying the right tools to trigger the body's and the mind’s innate healing powers. After teaching her own mind/body approach to healing pain, and specifically back pain in her own classes and private sessions for more than 13 years, she has now created the TRIVAnetics program to make her own approach available to the world, and not just her students and clients. In it she teaches her own mind/body approach that she has developed over the last 13 years of continuous teaching and learning.
She gained her understanding on how the body and the mind work together to heal the body after a serious accident in 1990, which left her in excruciating pain for more than eight years. With no doctor being able to help her, she soon realized that it was up to her to find a way out of it. Meeting Carlos Rosas, co-founder of The Nia Technique, and Suzan Allameh, a Rolfing therapist within only a few weeks in 1998, helped her heal her pain in only a matter of two months. It was the combination of understanding and using the power of the mind and the mechanics of the body that got her out of the pain.
Since her healing in 1998, she has extensively studied the body and the mind. She took the Nia training and became a Nia Brown Belt teacher, danced with Gabrielle Roth and Jonathan Horan of The 5 Rhythms, and with Vinn Marti, founder of Soul Motion. She explored the martial art forms Aikido, Tai Chi, and Taekwondo to improve her movement skills and to better understand the energy flow in the body. In 2001, she received the Dai Ko Myo Initiation (Third Reiki Level 3A) in 2001, and started to give reiki treatments as well. In 2006 she attended the Educogym training, a fitness program that focuses on the mind aspect in weight training, and worked as a personal trainer in several Educogyms in the UK and Ireland.
She attended several seminars on mind technology and how to use more of the mind. During her first seminar she heard the words ‘What you focus on grows’ and realized that focusing on the pain in all those years while she was suffering from excruciating shoulder and back pain had actually kept her in pain.
Taking all this knowledge about the body, mind, and energy back into the classroom while teaching Nia, body awareness and back pain classes she discovered that her approach of doing everything ‘the body’s way’, one of the main maxims of the Nia Technique, and using the mind’s visualization and imagination capabilities often helped people to get out of their pain within very short periods of time. Over the years she has helped many clients to heal their body from pain in Germany, UK, Ireland, and the Bahamas. Besides teaching her own approach in her classes, she has also worked with private clients since 2000.
She is currently living on Paradise Island, Bahamas, working on a new book.

Back Pain is, like all diseases, developed from an imbalance somewhere in the body and/or mind. The root cause can be a muscle imbalance due to an injury, repetitve movements or poor posture, chronic inflammation due to a wrong diet, or too much stress over an extended period of time, just to name a few of the main causes for back pain. As long as one does not look for and then treat what the underlying cause of the individual's back pain is, no permanent healing can be achieved.
