Hello! My name is Cynthia Scott, and I am a practicing certified speech language pathologist. I have worked as a full time educator for the past 16 years, specializing in childhood language disorders, speech motor and articulation therapy, and phonological disorders. Much focus of my practice has been spent working with non-speaking children, as well as remediating perceptual skills related to reading delays.
My background includes a master of arts and bachelor's of applied science degrees in communication disorders, as well as a a psychology minor, from the University of MN - Duluth. I enjoy reading and writing about a wide variety of topics: early childhood topics, self-improvement, psychology and dynamics of change, interpersonal communication, basic helping skills, nutrition, alternative health topics, and health related concerns.
You can read some of my articles here. Also, check out my blog website at www.Xomba.com/user/phonetic_resources to read additional articles and bookmarks.
Wishing you health, and much happiness -

Speech Language Pathologist
I have found that my background in "Rogerian" helping techniques has been indispensable in helping others grasp and accept abilities, and *disabilities*. I use techniques of emotional engagement, various sensory modalities, and cognitive "re-framing" to help shift my client's behaviors. More than anything, acceptance of self and of others is a great place to begin. You need to *be there*, in order to begin the process of change. And, remember, no matter how bright you think you might be....in God's eyes, we are all riding the short bus. :-) Grace is yours, and you are entitled, regardless of your physical appearance, lack of awareness, and limitations. You are deserving of the best that life has to offer you. You are deserving of achieving your greatest possible potential. Find others who believe in your value and worth.
I am available by telephone for consultation regarding communication concerns. This is not an evaluation, but simply a telephone screening and suggestions for resources and possibilities for your situation (information and referral) for a minimal fee. If you are unsure of the first steps to take, you may benefit from discussing the specifics with a speech therapist. I also accept private clients on a limited, case-by-case basis. Please e-mail with a brief statement of your concern to: MCScott@sherbtel.net.
