Donald and Cheryl Lynne Rubbo are martial and internal arts teachers and authors. They teach extensively on healing with the mind, and are passionate proponents of self-directed healing, the process of applying self-awareness and intention to bring healing to body, mind and spirit.
Donald and his wife Cheryl Lynne have spent over 35 years of their lives immersed in the martial, internal and healing arts, including Asian fighting and internal power cultivating systems, dynamic methods of self-regulation using energy and intention, and profound meditative methods.
In 1997, Donald and Cheryl Lynne co-founded the Paul D. Pickens II Research Foundation, a nonprofit organization. The mission of PDP II Research Foundation is to support integrative modalities, to improve the health and quality of life of the community through public education, research, health programs and training of health-care providers and other practitioners. The Foundation was founded in memory of Cheryl Lynne’s brother Paul D. Pickens II, who passed away from AIDS-related complications in 1995. Paul’s courageous approach to his own health and illness inspired the mission and values which guide the Foundation’s work. PDP II’s philosophy of healing and wellness is based on the belief that true healing starts from within.
In 2007 Donald and Cheryl Lynne developed BreatheStrong, a subsidiary of PDP II Research Foundation, a global outreach program to raise awareness about the profound health benefits of deep breathing, and to foster the growth of connected communities working together for peace, encouraging the integration of wisdom and compassion into daily living. BreatheStrong is a system of deep breathing exercises coupled with self-directed and activity-dependent neuroplasticity to effect positive changes in mood, health and wellbeing, and emphasizing an altruistic outlook. |
