Dr. Waln Brown grew up in out-of-home placements, including an orphanage, detention center, state psychiatric hospital and juvenile reformatory.  A former special education student who failed the ninth grade, Waln earned his Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania and a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Chicago.  He has spent his adult life studying and writing about youth emotional and behavioral problems, including his autobiography The Other Side of Delinquency, Rutgers University Press, 1983, and hundreds of publications that can be purchased at www.amazon.com.
