Heather K. Whittington is a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner and meditation instructor. Heather graduated and became a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner after completing 650 hours of training in assisted asana technique, therapeutic dialogue, body/mind integrative techniques, applied anatomy and more. She has studied advanced meditation techniques with her mentor, Sudhir Jonathan Foust, and maintains a daily practice.
Heather teaches weekly meditation classes to cultivate a state of present moment awareness, which helps combat stress and suffering that many people experience in daily life. The Healing Book Club, a group facilitated by Heather, meets monthly and provides an opportunity for students to read and discuss mindfulness-based non-fiction books, which often focus on meditation as the tool to end suffering. She also offers day-long meditation retreats, including "Still Voices: The Poetry of Yoga & Meditation" and "Gentle Heart: Cultivating Forgiveness, Compassion & Loving-Kindness." Heather practices at the Center for Mind-Body Therapies in Frederick, Maryland, as well as educational institutions and corporations in the Baltimore-Washington region.
