Having begun his study of The Way of Mind Body Coordination (Shin Shin Toitsu Do) over 25 years ago and with 30 years in the health care field, Irwin Hoenig has developed a unique perspective of the healing arts.
His training in mind body coordination and its martial art counterpart, Ki-Aikido, began while he was still an invasive cardiovascular technologist at a world-renown cardiology center. During that training, he learned Kiatsu Ryoho (Ki pressure therapy), which he successfully incorporated into specific situations with the heart patients.
Realizing that cardiology was not his calling, he enrolled in massage school in 1995 and took his first CranioSacral Therapy (CST) seminar in 1997 - two weeks before graduating. CST gave him a deeper understanding that working with the body's intelligence is far more effective than trying to make it do what the therapist thinks it needs to do to heal.
For several years after graduating from massage school, Irwin was an instructor at the basic and advanced level and he now is a Certified Presenter of CranioSacral Therapy workshops for the Upledger Institute.
He believes that education is an important part of the healing process and uses his skills to empower his clients toward that end.
