I have personal and professional experience as a licensed certified addictions counselor (licensed alcohol and drug counselor) in helping persons with alcohol and other drug problems. In addition to being an addictions counselor, I am in long term recovery myself with 30 years of continuous abstinence and sobriety. I have been working as a licensed certified addictions counselor for 28 years. I have been Director of Treatment at two residential treatment programs and was the Chief Substance Abuse Counselor and Program Coordinator of the Chemical Dependency Unit at the Sheppard Pratt Health Systems in Baltimore Maryland for four years.

I have been Director of Loyola College in Maryland's Alcohol and Drug Education and Support Services for the past 18 years, providing education and treatment services as an addictions counselor to students. I am also an affiliate professor in the Psychology Department of Loyola College, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in drug and alcohol addictions. I also have a private practice as an addictions counselor in addition to my online addictions counseling services.

In addition to my law degree from the George Washington University Law school in Washington, D.C., I have a Master of Science degree in Pastoral Counseling, and am a CCDC, or Maryland Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor, and an LCADC, or Maryland Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
