Getting Started With John McMahon

Depending who you are and what your interest is, there are various ways of getting started with me.

My main concern at the moment is, I am in the process of creating an interactive website (the first?) for people with drink problems - 24/7 Help Yourself . I carried out one of the first studies of computer assisted treatment for alcohol in the early 1990s and have developed the interactivity factor through my involvement in e-learning. The site will go live early in 2008 and I will be looking for people, preferably with a current alcohol problem, who would be willing to Beta test the site for free. The only return asked is that you provide feedback on the site.

If you are interested in getting in touch for other reasons, research, service evaluation, courses, or some other professional reason I am always happy to hear from you. If you just want to swap experiences, opinions or general fat chewing again I am happy to hear from you, but may be a bit slower at answering but I will get there. Click on the contact tab at the top of the page and fill in the form that appears.

In my next project I am interested in interviewing partners of problem drinkers about their experiences and their methods of coping. If you are the partner of a problem drinker, current or past, and are willing to be interviewed (by phone) please get in touch. As an initial phase to this project, we are inviting questions from partners of drinkers. We feel that you are a neglected group by the treatment industry and the little support provided appears to bear little resemblance to what you actually need or want. If you would like to contribute to this project please got to Partners' Survey
