Finding no books with Biblical references to help me face the challenges of raising a child with special needs, I did intense research to bring back my hope. Listening to the many preachers on TBN and doing Bible studies, I studied Scriptures to help me understand God's plan for the life of my child. Doctors and teachers offered no hope and told me to brace myself for the long, dark road that I was now on. Raised in a Christian home and active in my local church, I knew in my heart that the God I serve is a God of mercy.
After being a successful life insurance agent for 15 years, I quit my job to take care of my son who was severely afflicted with autism. With many interventions over the last 9 years, Zack, is moderately afflicted with autism and well on the road to recovery. We have done cheation, vitamin supplements, special diets, speech therapy, occupational therapy, hyperberic oxygen treatments, audio therapy, vision therapy, horseback riding therapy, sensory therapy, saunas, intensive home schooling (of 40 hours per week for 5 straight years!), cranio-sacral therapies and chiropractic care. I have two other children who are normal developing.
I wrote a book, Finding God In Autism. It gives Scriptures to restore your hope, strengthen your faith and show you that God has a plan for your child's life. Scriptures to promise that God is listening to your every prayer, that He is watching the work and efforts being done on behalf of our children. Our favorite place to get away from it all is Yosemite National Park. We go at least once a month! Living 2 hours from Yosemite allows us to make day trips or to book a cabin and stay awhile. I have been going to Yosemite on a regular basis for 45 years. I have hiked every waterfall and hiked most of the John Muir Trails.
