I always love writing these bios about myself. I never know how early in my life to start so I'll just start from the beginning and you can stop whenever you get bored. I was born in Israel and moved to Canada when I was 4. I don't remember much of it but every summer from when I was 14 until I turned 18, we've visited the family that still lives there. Living in Canada, it's kind of hard to stay away from hockey and because of this I'm a huge Leafs Fan (Go Leafs Go). When I was 8, we moved to Miami and since then I've been living in sunny, hot and beautiful Florida.
I'm now a student at FSU and am getting a double major in Exercise Science and Dietetics. I'll be graduating in April 2008 (knock and wood). My main goal after graduating is to become a Registered Dietitian (RD). To do this I'll be applying to work with WIC (a government program to help low income women who are pregnant or have young kids) and then doing their internship. After that I can take the RD exam and move on.
In July of 2006 I started my website StraightHealth. After learning about exercise and nutrition in my classes, I started to become frustrated about the lack of accurate and easy to understand information on these subjects on the net. There are some really good sites but the majority try to sell visitors diets or exercise programs that have no scientific basis (gain 20 pounds of muscle in a month or lose 10 pounds in a week). The main goal of my website is to give people access to free and reliable information so that they can improve their overall health through proper exercise and diet.
Obesity is a huge problem in this country and while I can't solve it on my own, by giving people the tools and information that they need, I believe that they will help themselves. If we don't do something about this problem, my generation might be one of the first to have a shorter life expectancy than our parents.
But I want to close this on a happier tone so I invite you to visit my site and let me know (using the contact page) what you think and how I can help you.
