Bio - Linda Gray:
I was born and raised in London (UK). At the age of 36, along with my partner, I travelled for two years in England and France with our four children.
We bought a 500 year old ruin with an acre of land and lived an almost self-sufficient lifestyle for over ten years. I learned about health, nutrition and gardening, as well as keeping my family sane, during those years.
The children went to school in France and, when they grew up, one by one decided to come back to England. I myself, returned just over five years ago and have been following my writing career ever since, alongside enjoying grandchildren.
However, the Grow Your Own theme never left me, and as more and more evidence is proving that processed foods interfere with our immune systems, which helps keep us healthy and strong, I believe that growing our own food is the way of the future for a healthy and happy society. With that in mind, my mission is to spread the word :-) and I have been writing articles, books and a content based gardening website for the past few years.
I published my first book with Findhorn Press in 2007, called Grow Your Own Pharmacy. Since the BBC programme Grow Your Own Drugs was televised, I have noticed my book getting a lot more attention on Amazon.
My second book, Granny’s Book of Good Old Fashioned Common Sense, was published with Black & White Publishing also in 2007 and covers traditional home-making topics such as cooking, needlework and crafts for children, all brought up-to-date.
The third title, launched 12th June 2009 with Crowood Press is called Herb Gardening, and covers everyday and occasional herbs, along with general gardening tips.
My fourth book came out in July 2009, published by How To Books and titled Grow Your Own Groceries. This book explains how to grow everyday foods and what can be done with them. And it's already in its second printing!
I have a number of other projects within the ‘Grow Your Own’ theme on the back burner, including a couple of TV programme ideas, as well as a new Grow Your Own title due out in 2011 (Grow Your Own Winter Food).
I run my own information gardening website with a ‘home and garden’ section. The site is currently attracting around 1000 worldwide visitors every day. I publish a free monthly ezine to a growing list of subscribers.
