Mark Douglass is an inspirational public speaker who speaks about overcoming adversity. His memoir, Flashbacks of Abuse: How a machine gun toting sociopath freed me from the chains of my childhood is available for sale at www.FlashbacksOfAbuse.com. It is a page turner of a book which tells how he and his then-twelve-year-old daughter narrowly escaped being murdered when they stumbled into the middle of a gangland kidnapping while traveling in Europe. The suit resulted in a 1988 public trial and a $1.27 million jury verdict against his abuser. He has appeared on several Minneapolis/St. Paul TV stations, numerous radio stations, and on the nationally syndicated, The Sally Jesse Raphael Show. In May, 1984, he and his childhood abuse history were the lead story of an Emmy award winning ground-breaking television news series about childhood sexual abuse. In 1989, he helped change the Minnesota statute of limitations for childhood sexual abuse suits to allow for "delayed discovery" of injuries. He practiced law in Minnesota for over twenty-five years.
