Rick Belden is the author of Iron Man Family Outing: Poems about Transition into a More Conscious Manhood.
Iron Man Family Outing is a book of poetry for men, and for women who want a better understanding of men, that explores family relationships, relationships between men and women, male sexuality, sex addiction, dreams, recovery from childhood abuse, and the search for psychospiritual wholeness. Iron Man Family Outing is widely used in the United States and internationally by therapists, counselors, and men's groups as an aid in the exploration of masculine psychology and men's issues, and as a resource for men who grew up in dysfunctional, abusive, or neglectful family systems.
Rick's work has been featured on numerous websites, including the Good Men Project, Male Survivor, Mankind Project Journal, Secret Lives of Men, Masculinity Movies, Society for the Psychological Study of Men and Masculinity, Poetry Super Highway, Austin Chronicle, and others. Excerpts from Iron Man Family Outing have appeared in multiple books, including Drinking the Dragon: Stories of the Dark Night of Soul and an upcoming book for psychotherapists about conducting psychotherapy with men.
His second book, Scapegoat’s Cross: Poems about Finding and Reclaiming the Lost Man Within, is awaiting publication. He lives in Austin, TX.
Every situation has healing potential.
Men are hungry for ways to access their emotions safely. No man wants to open up & be shamed or scared into shutting back down again.
Healing is not for wimps. The real tough guys are the ones who can do the work.
