Getting Started With Stephen Gexler
To be an efficient and effective learner, you should recognize your personal thinking style, and the style of those around you. Here is a brief introduction:
LEARNING STYLES - How we receive information best (e.g. Visual, Auditory, Tactile)
THINKING STYLES - How we process information best (e.g. Linear & Global)
Linear Thinkers prefer structure, and dislike chaos and unpredictability. They tend to start "Step B" only after "Step A" has been completed.
Global Thinkers prefer concepts and summaries. They prefer to see the "big picture" and like placing new information into context with existing information.
When you communicate with strong linear thinkers, you should always provide a structured format with sufficient details. On the other hand, when communicating with a strong global thinker, too much structure (and too many details) will be a distraction - they want the "bottom line".
