How many friends have you lost because people didn't think you were interested in them?
How many chances have you lost to show people how witty you are?
How many times have you thought of a great comeback, a funny remark, hours or days after an event?

This is what happens when we don't lighten up!  For the past ten years I have been a stand-up comedian, but I now call myself a humorist, because they make more money--theoretically.  And because the title 'humorist' carries more weight than 'word nerd'.

Anyway, I am looking for opportunities to show people how they can utilize their innate sense of humor.  My goal is to get out of the comedy clubs so that I can build my reputation as a clean comic (Cleana Trina).  O.K., the real reason is that I am tired of stepping over vomit on my way to the stage.  And I would much rather be heckled by a banker than a drunken 21-year-old screaming "You suck!"  My plan is to speak to one organization per week for 52 weeks.  If YOUR organization would like me to show them how to lighten up, how to create a lighter environment, please call me ASAP.  You can't afford to lose any more than you already have lost by being serious!

YOU are funny!  We tend to have a certain image in mind when we hear the word, "Funny".  It is usually the image of a 1.  Male, 2. someone who is loud and obnoxious, and 3.  Someone who is crass.  If we don't personally fit this image or stereotype, we tend to think we can't pull off being funny.  No one will laugh.
But the goal isn't to get laughs.  The goal is to use our NATURAL funny nature to create a lighter environment.  In this environment, we are approachable, people want to talk to us, people want to get to know us.

Thanks for helping me to stamp out perfectionism and seriousness!  No joking!
