Low vitamin C increases stroke risk
"Men with low vitamin C levels are more likely to have a stroke of any kind, say researchers in Finland. In a new study a group of nearly 2,500 men in Finland, aged between 42 and 60, had vitamin C levels in their blood measured. Those with the lowest levels - equivalent to just half a glass of orange juice a day - had a 2.1 times higher risk of any kind of stroke, compared to those with the highest levels. The risks were more obvious for men with high blood pressure and those who were overweight."
