* Study: Fear of new foods mostly genetic *

only yourself to blame. According to a study of twins, neophobia -- or the fear
of new foods -- is mostly in the genes.
"Children could actually blame their mothers for this," said Jane Wardle,
director of the Health Behavior Unit at University College London, one of the

* Back to School Means Backpack Safety *
Backpacks help kids carry schoolbooks and supplies, but they can also be harmful
when overloaded and/or improperly fitted, warns the American Physical Therapy
Association.
"Wearing backpacks improperly or ones that are too heavy put children at
increased frisk for musculoskeletal injuries," Mary Ann Wilmarth, assistant dean
and director of the transitional doctors of physical therapy degree at
Northeastern University in Boston, said in a prepared statement. She's conducted
a number of studies on school backpacks.

Thirteen-month-old Dominic Klatt stopped banging the furniture in the verandah,
looked at his mother and clasped his right hand around his left wrist to signal
that he needed to go to the bathroom.
His mother took the diaper-less tot to a tree in the yard, held him in a
squatting position and made a gentle hissing sound -- prompting the infant to
relieve himself on cue before he rushed back to play.

Salmon and Red Potato Salad
1 (14 3/4 ounce) can salmon, drained and flaked
1/4 cup fresh cilantro
1 teaspoon garlic
1 1/2 cups fat free mayonnaise
1/3 cup red onion, diced
1/3 cup celery, diced
2 1/2 pounds red potatoes
Salt and pepper to taste
Quarter potatoes and cook until fork-tender. Drain and cool. Combine mayonnaise,
cilantro, garlic, onion, and celery and mix well. Combine salmon, cooled
potatoes, and dressing and gently toss to coat. Season with salt and pepper.
Cover and chill for at least 3 hours. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve.
Makes 8-10 Servings
