* Sleepy brain prone to sudden shutdowns study *
Being deprived of sleep even for one night makes the brain unstable and prone to
sudden shutdowns akin to a power failure -- brief lapses that hover between
sleep and wakefulness, researchers said on Tuesday.
"It's as though it is both asleep and awake and they are switching between each
other very rapidly," said David Dinges of the University of Pennsylvania School
of Medicine, whose study appears in the Journal of Neuroscience.

* Friends Quit Smoking? You Probably Will Too *
The urge to smoke is contagious, but quitting apparently is, too. A team of
researchers who showed that obesity can spread person-to-person has found a
similar pattern with smoking cessation: A smoker is more likely to kick the
habit if a spouse, friend, co-worker or sibling did.
What's more, smokers tend to quit in groups, and those who don't stop puffing
increasingly find themselves pushed to the edge of their social circles, the
researchers found.

* Study finds that shingles runs in families *
Shingles tends to run in families, indicating these people may have an increased
genetic susceptibility to the viral disease marked by a painful, blistering
rash, researchers said on Monday.
The researchers looked at 1,027 people treated at a clinic in Houston between
1992 and 2005, half of whom had shingles and the other half had skin conditions
other than shingles.

* Purpose of Life *
We humans are encoded to search out our reason for being and then express it.
When we are not living on purpose, we know it; we are unhappy, we feel isolated,
things don't flow in our lives, and our bodies reflect it. But when we ARE
living in the rhythm of our unique purpose, we feel it.
Through the ages, we've spent a lot of time figuring out how to express our
inner being in a tangible outer way. Spiritual teachers, gurus, poets, artists,
philosophers, inventors and, well, people who have gone before us have left us
the roadmap of "living on purpose." While there is a process to expressing our
purpose that we access regularly (whether knowingly or not), it is helpful to
understand what purpose is -- and is not.

* Posture *
One of the most common reasons for health problems that I see in my office is
faulty posture. Having poor posture will almost guarantee that you'll have
Chiropractic structural problems. But luckily, if you get proper chiropractic
spinal and extremity adjustments and are put on a postural rehabilitation
program, postural faults will not plague you.
What constitutes good posture?

* Yoga *
While yoga classes have become 'all the rage' in fitness and wellness centers
around the country, have you ever wondered, "Is yoga for me?" Perhaps, you've
already decided that yoga is not your 'cup of tea' since you can barely reach
your knees let alone your toes! Or maybe you were intimidated by the long,
practically-unpronounceable Sanskrit names for most yoga poses. I know what you
were thinking, "How can I do something I can't even say?!" Whether you have
pondered or predetermined, allow me to briefly suggest here just some of the
reasons it would be worth your while to give yoga a try. ...
