* Dad's Age Plays Role in Fertility: Drop in Pregnancy Rates After Fertility Treatments When Men Are Over 40 *
A woman's age plays a key role in her ability to get pregnant, but a landmark study now shows that dad's age may be just as important.
A study of more than 12,000 couples undergoing fertility treatments has found that pregnancy rates drop and miscarriages increase when the father is older than 40. The findings are being presented today at the 24th annual conference of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology in Barcelona, Spain.

* Kids' Obesity May Lead to Epidemic of Adult Diabetes *
The current childhood obesity epidemic in the United States may lead to large numbers of young adults developing type 2 diabetes in the future, along with serious diabetes-related health complications, warns a University of Michigan researcher.
"The full impact of the childhood obesity epidemic has yet to be seen, because it can take up to 10 years or longer for obese individuals to develop type 2 diabetes. Children who are obese today are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes as young adults," Dr. Joyce Lee, a pediatric endocrinologist at the university's C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, said in a prepared statement.

* Filtering Through the Coffee Studies: While Coffee Won't Kill You, Can It Extend Your Life? *
Coffee drinking -- even more than six cups a day over the course of almost 20 years -- won't kill you, and may even help you live longer, says a new study.
Researchers from Harvard and the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid used 20 years of surveys from two groups of health professionals to draw their conclusion: death does not come any sooner for those who drink more coffee.

* Avoid Brain Drain with Memory-Boosting Foods: Improve Your Mental Health with Common Fruits, Vegetables -- Even Coffee *
Every cell in your body needs a steady supply of oxygen and nutrients in order to stay alive and work properly, including brain cells. Because oxygen and nutrients are carried in the blood stream, anything that impedes blood flow will starve those all-important brain cells. The plain truth is that a healthy heart makes for a healthy brain. So keep your blood pressure and cholesterol in check, exercise regularly, don’t smoke and get at least seven hours of sleep each night.
Compelling research also indicates that certain foods and nutrients can help enhance your memory. Read the facts on fish, berries, leafy greens and coffee -- and be sure you remember to incorporate them into your diet.

* Reflexology *
"My feet have hardly any feeling, but getting Reflexology done once a week gives me some feeling of normalcy in my feet. They are warm too!"
That is just one of the responses received
after many years of working with Diabetics and the resulting health problems
concerning their feet.
People with diabetes can develop many different foot problems. Even ordinary
problems can get worse and lead to serious complications.

There's no denying the power of bodywork,
especially a good massage. It can be pampering, rejuvenating, or therapeutic,
either way massage therapy can be a powerful ally in your healthcare regimen.
Most experts agree that many diseases are stress related and that high stress
has been linked to faster aging. It's somewhat unrealistic in this fast-paced
world to eliminate anxiety and pressure altogether, but massage can, without a
doubt, help manage stress.

* Yoga *
Become determined! Until every single being
in the world is free from suffering, I will not give up my practice.
This saying comes from a pack of Buddhist cards that one of our retreat guests
gifted us. A favorite theme of mine in yoga classes is the heart, connecting
from and healing it. In the evening class at Sewall House a few days pat
Valentine's day I had yet to come up with what to write about the heart (with a
Feb 24 deadline). I was feeling tired in this class. My mind was drawn back to
another class in 2002 at the retreat where I had also been feeling tired. I had
decided to relax on my back after covering the students with blankets and eye
pillows. Without making a sound someone placed an eye pillow over my eyes and
covered me with a blanket. It was like an angel had descended. Later I figured
out it had been our cook, an Australian woman who had the true heart of service.

*** Book Review: You Can Heal Your Life - By Louise L. Hay ***
-------------------------------------------------------------
If you haven't seen Hay House's Lifestyles series of gorgeous gift books, there is no better way to acquaint yourself than with publisher/author Louise Hay's You Can Heal Your Life. A bestseller for many years, You Can Heal Your Life has been republished with bright, beautiful illustrations in full, living color and exquisite typography--each and every page is a work of art by artist Joan Perrin Falquet. The timeless message of the book is that we are each responsible for our own reality and "dis-ease." Hay believes we make ourselves ill by having thoughts of self-hatred. She includes a directory of ailments and emotional causes for each with a corresponding affirmation to help overcome the illness. For example, the probable cause of multiple sclerosis is "mental hardness, hard-heartedness, iron will, and inflexibility." The healing "thought pattern" would be: "By choosing loving, joyous thoughts, I created a loving joyous world. I am safe and free." --P. Randall Cohan
