* Natural and Organic Products Found to Contain Cancer-Causing Chemical *

The "natural" and "organic" products industry is booming. In a world which seems increasingly full of chemicals, many people are turning to "green" products, expecting them to be safer and healthier for their bodies than traditional ones. However, independent lab tests have uncovered that major brands of personal care products such as shampoo, shower gel, and dish soap marketed as natural or organic in fact contain a potentially dangerous chemical.

A report recently released by the Organic Consumers Association (OCA), a consumer advocacy group, said that 46 of the 100 "natural" and "organic" products they tested contained 1,4-dioxane, a petroleum-based solvent which the Environmental Protection Agency has declared a probable human carcinogen (known to cause cancer in lab animals). Among other things, it could also be a kidney neurotoxicant and respiratory toxicant.

* Restaurant Kids' Meals Loaded with Calories *

Parents looking for healthy meal choices for their children are likely to find slim pickings on the menus of the nation's top restaurant chains, according to a report released Monday by a nonprofit public health group.

Nearly every possible combination of the children's meals at Kentucky Fried Chicken, Taco Bell, Sonic, Jack in the Box, and Chick-fil-A are too high in calories, the report by the Center for Science in the Public Interest said.

* 5 Tips to Limit Your Cell Phone Risk *

"I hope you're talking to me on a speakerphone," Devra Davis barks at me when I call her on my cell phone. "You'd better not be holding that phone up to your head."

Indeed, I'm not. This is a good thing, because you don't want to get into an argument with Davis on this subject. She's the director of the University of Pittsburgh's Center for Environmental Oncology, and her group recently put out recommendations that we should be using a speakerphone or ear piece. The report says children, who have thinner skulls and developing brains, should use cell phones only in case of emergency.

* Marinate Meat for Healthy Grilling? *

It's enough to make your mouth water. The smell of a sizzling steak on the grill on a summer evening, as friends gather around the barbecue.

Then a pesky thought buzzes your brain. Can grilling meat cause cancer-causing chemicals to form?

That substance that forms on meats cooked at high temperatures (such as from grilling, frying, or broiling meat) includes compounds that researchers say are "reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen." The compounds are known as HCAs, or heterocyclic amines. Some research has shown that eating more HCAs increases your risk for several cancers, including colorectal, stomach, lung, pancreas, breast, and prostate cancers.

* Fish May Boost Memory, Prevent Stroke *

Regularly eating non-fried fish may help older adults preserve their memory and ward off stroke.

Researchers reporting in tomorrow’s issue of Neurology have found that older adults whose diets include three or more weekly helpings of baked or broiled tuna and other fish high in omega-3 fatty acids are less likely to develop "silent" brain lesions that can lead to cognitive decline and vascular stroke.

* Insomnia *

Do you feel tired every day and wired every night? That pretty much describes someone who needs sleep help. Insomnia can affect anyone. Almost everyone has trouble sleeping a few nights here and there. A surprising number of people struggle with insomnia all the time. Fortunately there are several options available if you need sleep help to get through the night.

You might only need to make some changes in sleep hygiene. But what is that exactly? In this case, hygiene has nothing to do with cleanliness. It does have a lot to do with habits. Do you have any routines you follow before bedtime? You should.

* Fitness & Exercise *

Maybe you have already come to the realization that while it’s nice to gather all the free information on the internet, the depth and quality of the information is nothing compared to what is found in most books. The old saying “You get what you pay for” definitely applies here. This holds true for just about every topic out there, and work out programs are no different.

But even once you have decided to purchase the highest quality information, it is difficult to know how to find the best muscle building work out program. I will give you some guidelines in a minute, but first I want to discuss how NOT to find the best program.

* Overcoming Fear *

Life is like a road. There are long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight paths. In our life many roads would come our way as we journey through life. There are roads that lead to a life of single blessedness, marriage, and religious vocation. There are also roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. There are roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness, roads towards victory and jubilation, and roads leading to defeat and disappointment.

Just like any road, there are corners, detours, and crossroads in life. Perhaps the most perplexing road that you would encounter is a crossroad. With four roads to choose from and with limited knowledge on where they would go, which road will you take? What is the guarantee that we would choose the right one along the way? Would you take any road, or just stay where you are: in front of a crossroad?

*** Book Review: Full Body Orgasm - By Oscar Naval ***
-------------------------------------------------------------

Oscar Naval is one of a kind. When you meet him, you'll never forget him.

He grew up in San Francisco's Mission District, a neighborhood where the local grocer would shoot burglars on site and his a childhood friend ended up in prison for murder. Not the beginnings most would wish for their child.

However, perhaps in spite of these beginnings, or perhaps because of them, his whole life has been a quest for true happiness and joy. Not that bottled champagne-cork frivolity that one feels when someone cracks a particularly funny joke- but that effervescent, undeniable, long lasting joy that oozes from some people in the most contagious way.

His quest took him all over the world, learning philosophies, tools, techniques and soaking in experiences. He went from the British Isles to the Oracle at Delphi, from the red earth of Utah to the spiritual spots of Sedona. In Hawaii he discovered the depth and richness of native Hawaiian spirituality. When he moved to Australia, he found his spiritual family and loving lasting marriage.

Oscar cheekily swears that life should consistently feel like a "Full Body Orgasm." A graphic term, but perhaps the best way to communicate to those "Doubting Thomases" how extraordinary it is possible to feel each and every day.

Oscar is the author of the controversial book Full Body Orgasm -- Your Energy to Love, Health, Wealth, and Happiness. He and his wife Lisa, now dedicate their lives to assisting others to live their own "FBO Life." When they're not playing trains with their 3 year old son, Mikey, that is.

Oscar Naval has a Diploma of Body-Centered Psychotherapy in Core Energetics. He is a certified Hawaiian Lomi-lomi massage therapist.
