*** Article: Learning How to Thrive after Divorce - By Carolyn B. Ellis ***
----------------------------------------------------
Divorce. Separation. Gloomy concepts for most people. Sharing the news that
"I'm getting a divorce" is the kind of pronouncement that can cause a hush
at even the liveliest cocktail party. About 50% of all marriages end in
divorce, and one in three Americans are already part of a blended family. Do
those of us facing separation and divorce have to simply "survive" to get
through the experience? Is it possible for there to be something more?
I believe it's possible to set the bar higher than simply survival. I
believe we can learn to thrive after divorce. Particularly for those of us
who are divorced and have children, it's vital we heal our own emotional
issues so we can be present, loving parents. We need to do a better job of
keeping our children out of the potential crossfire of divorcing adults.
Life has a way of throwing us curve balls which act as cosmic wake-up calls.
For me, it was getting divorced from my high school sweetheart after 20
years when my children were only 3, 6, and 9. For others, the curve ball may
be losing your job, facing a health challenge, or losing a loved one. How we
handle those curve balls teaches us who we really are. I look upon my
divorce experience not with regret or pain; I look upon my divorce with
gratitude as one of the greatest gifts of my life because of the woman I've
become as a result of my journey.
As I traveled on my divorce journey, I kept asking myself what was my
motivating force that kept me going forward. What core values did I use as a
compass to direct me on the road ahead? As I asked myself these questions, I
kept hearing the word "thrive" and feeling the energy of that word
resonating in my heart. The word itself conveys a sense of inspiration,
hope, and success.
From this self-inquiry, I came to articulate what I call the THRIVE
Principles T. They are tools that can help you handle the curve balls and
win every time. These universal principles and values have been taught by
many great spiritual teachers and leaders over centuries of human existence.
What is new, however, is the positioning of these core principles together.
T - Trust
The first Principle is to TRUST. Trust that you are made of the right stuff.
You have every internal resource or skill that's needed to help you find
your way through a problem. It's just a matter of learning how to access
your own incredible talents. Trust that you will make mistakes and that you
can learn from them. Most importantly, you need to trust yourself. You are
the world's best expert on you!
H - Honesty
It's so important to learn to be HONEST with yourself and with others.
Without honesty, there can be no authenticity. When you can be real with
yourself and with others, they can be real with you. If you need help, be
honest and ask for what you need. If you want to say no, be honest and
decline. Often we say "yes" to a request just to be polite or "do the right
thing."
R - Responsibility
The third Principle is RESPONSIBILITY. As many great spiritual teachers tell
us, we need to be 100% responsible for our current reality. Taking
responsibility puts you in the driver's seat of your life. Otherwise, you
end up as the perpetual back-seat driver -- always knowing better after the
fact. You get to play the powerless victim, spending time and energy blaming
others and making excuses for why you don't get what you say you wanted in
life. When you harness the power of responsibility, you can affect change
and take action to accomplish your goals.
I - Integrity
One of the most fundamental principles is INTEGRITY. Your word is incredibly
powerful and sets the Universe in motion to align with your word. It's vital
that you do what you say and say what you do. If you're not going to do
something, declare that fact. Living in full integrity helps you to live "in
the zone" where you'll find it effortless and magical to accomplish your
goals.
V - Vision
Whether you're creating a business, a relationship, a trim body, or a new
hobby, you must take the time to create an inspiring VISION for yourself.
Without a vision, you don't have the big picture. It's easy to get caught up
in battling daily brush fires, never feeling like you can get ahead.
Articulating a vision defines your true horizon. Your vision should empower
you and inspire you. Holding a vision pulls you through the day-to-day
challenges and keeps you in action toward your goals.
E - Expression
Human beings have a huge spectrum of emotional expression. There's rage,
sadness, and fear at one end and ecstasy and love at the other. It's been
said that emotion is simply energy in motion. Bottling up your emotions is
like putting psychic sludge into your system. Eventually you either shut
down or you get backed up and explode. It's living in our fullest expression
of ourselves that we can feel fully alive.
You Deserve to Thrive
Each of us is here because we have a unique talent or gift we bring to the
world. Life is full of adversity and unexpected challenges along the way.
Use the THRIVE Principles T as the foundation for playing full out and
delivering what you have to offer with passion, joy, and ease!

*** Article: The Giving Zone: How to Use the Power of Giving to Make Your
Professional and Personal Dreams Come True - By Bruce Painter ***
----------------------------------------------------
A major reason I wrote this book ["The Giving Zone: Enter the Realm Where
Your Dreams Come True") was to help people learn to use the power of giving
to make their professional and personal dreams come true.
However, it wasn't some inspiring message that got me started on the subject
of giving. What actually got me started on this subject was the fact that as
a child and young adult, I had a lot of difficulty and even suffered pain
when it came to being able to give effectively. I gave too much to some
people. This included giving too much time, too much effort, too much
attention, etc. -- and at times I resented the people to whom I had given.
Sometimes I gave too little to others, and they were unhappy with me.
Sometimes I gave people what they didn't want, and then they became upset.
In other words, I did not have much "Giving Intelligence" -- the ability to
give others what they want, and at the same time, to get what you want.
Giving Intelligence also includes the ability to choose correctly to whom to
give, knowing what to give, and also how much to give.
In consulting with people for over three decades, I have found that the
majority of people have difficulty being able to give effectively.
Ask yourself these three questions:
1. Do I give too much to others -- my children, my family, and my friends --
and then end up resenting them?
2. When I resent them, do I then hold back on giving any more to them?
3. Do I sometimes give people what they don't want, or do people sometimes
give me what I don't want?
How you answer these and other questions helps indicate your degree of
Giving Intelligence. Being intelligent is doing the most important things
you can be doing in your life.
When you have highly developed Giving Intelligence, you do the most
important things you can. You give others what they want, and you also get
what you want. This results in a happy life -- with great relationships, a
successful career, and financial prosperity.
Every moment of your life you are giving, or you are receiving. How well you
give, and how well you receive, defines the quality of your life. As you
increase your ability to intelligently give and receive freely, you will
experience more and more pleasure and happiness in your life.
Since we are always giving or receiving, I decided years ago to learn to
master the ability to give as well as the ability to receive.
This is a life-long pursuit for me, and it is one of the most worthy
pursuits there is.
I encourage you to join me in this great adventure to learn to master these
two key abilities. I feel that it will be one of the most rewarding things
you can do to make all your professional and personal dreams come true.
As you read "The Giving Zone," you will have the opportunity to master the
ability to get what you want, as well as the opportunity to master the
ability to help others get what they want. When the people in your life get
what they want, you will get what you want. As more and more of us develop
our ability to give, and increase our Giving Intelligence, we will be
improving our families, our businesses, our society, our nation, and the
world.
The process of giving is involved in virtually every human interaction.
Without the process of giving, and its counterpart, the process of
receiving, nearly everything would be at a standstill.
The greatest changes in my life that have affected my success and happiness
have had to do with greatly increasing the amount I have given of myself to
others. This giving on my part has also most often had a dramatic positive
effect on the people to whom I have given.
When I seriously increase how much I give of myself, my world changes to a
much better world. I enter into what I call "The Giving Zone," where life
becomes joyful, loving, fun, successful, prosperous, and purposeful.
I have used the word "Zone" in the title because many of us have had winning
experiences of "being in the zone." This is the experience athletes hit when
everything goes right in their game -- a football player, for example,
completes nine passes in a row.
"Being in the zone" can also describe the experience of a salesperson who,
for example, makes 20 sales in a row and sets a company record. It can also
describe the joy of a husband and wife who work to improve their
relationship and fall as deeply in love as they were prior to their
marriage.
Watch Oprah Winfrey at work as she fully pours her heart out to help
transform the lives of the many people she touches. Her supreme ability and
desire to give has been a large part of her success and has made her one of
the most loved people in America. She lives "in the zone" and is clearly
also in The Giving Zone.
Mother Teresa was exemplary in her life of giving. She founded and nourished
a vast organization of helpers and raised huge sums of money to help
multitudes of people. She was certainly a permanent resident in The Giving
Zone.
Whether it is the superstar athlete who finds self-fulfillment through
dedication to a charitable organization, or the business executive who is on
a mission to market a product that improves the quality of our lives, the
ability to give fully and freely is paramount to maximizing the quality and
effectiveness of our lives.
Giving encompasses many areas of our lives, including giving to our family,
our friends, our career, our hobbies, our religious organizations, our
favorite charities, our pets, and our environment.
An important motivation behind the writing of this book was the major shift
I made in my life to give more to others. The shift was phenomenal. My life
was revolutionized from mediocrity, dreariness, and some selfishness to a
heightened sense of accomplishment, happiness, and service. The quality of
my marriage, friendships, and career improved. Life became a much more
meaningful and exciting adventure.
I began to experience more of being "in the zone" -- The Giving Zone -- an
extraordinary realm of existence.
Another impetus behind the writing of this book came from my observation of
influential people who make a very positive difference in the lives of many.
I feel that if there is one quality that separates them from the rest, it is
their unstoppable spirit of giving.
I believe that when we greatly increase the amount we give, other important
character traits will also improve dramatically. A few of these traits may
include self-discipline, perseverance, enthusiasm, a hunger for knowledge,
and love. For example, when we shift from focusing on ourselves to a
passionate focus on a worthy cause, our individual self-discipline will be
boosted because of that passionate focus. Another example is, when people
shift their focus toward more giving to others, they automatically increase
their connectedness to others. Their love and compassion for others also
increases.
Because of my own experience and through observing the lives of others, I
have come to the following conclusion: When people give passionately and
unboundedly in the direction of a chosen purpose, the realization of that
purpose will come into fruition at a greatly accelerated rate.
Reading "The Giving Zone" can help you get better and better at getting what
you want and helping others get what they want. Your ability to give is, in
my opinion, the deciding factor in your success and happiness, financially,
professionally, and personally.
"The Giving Zone" is designed with the aim of adding great value to the
lives of those who read it. The pathway to giving will take you on an
exciting adventure. Giving is a natural process. And the Giving Zone is a
natural place to be. Yet, there are many individuals who, deep inside, have
placed shackles on their ability to give. As each individual is freed from
the prison that binds a natural human propensity to give, many others are
set free. Enjoy the adventure of "The Giving Zone."

*** Book Review: All You Need Is HART! Create Love, Joy, and Abundance -
NOW! A Unique Guide to Holistic And Rapid Transformation - By Helene
Rothschild, MS, MA, MFT ***
------------------------------------------------------------
"Are you ready to be happier, healthier, and more successful in every area
of your life?" - Helene Rothschild
Reading "All You Need Is HART!" is similar to wrapping yourself in the most
beautiful, warm, loving blanket of understanding you can imagine. Within the
pages of this book, Helene Rothschild offers insight into beliefs and fears
we need to address in order to balance our lives. By allowing the clearing
out of negative emotions, we can embrace new positive beliefs that invite
success into our lives.
This book will help you to:
* Overcome phobias
* Heal serious physical problems by removing negative emotions
* Understand the 20 fears that are blocking you from prosperity
* Comfort yourself in times of conflict
* Enhance your self-esteem
* Overcome addictions
* Lose weight
* Create more financial success
* Understand how to move from fear to love
* Balance your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual life goals
Helene Rothschild's transformational approach to life allows powerful
positive thoughts to create a new reality. This goes beyond thinking
positively and addresses specific areas of personal growth. A notebook or
journal is helpful. Jotting down specific areas of conflict will encourage
you to refocus on those areas in order to overcome fears and conflicts that
may stem from childhood experiences.
"Addictions are what we do to the extreme in order to run away from our
emotional pain caused by our negative decision. They are usually the
symptoms and not the causes of our problems." - Helene Rothschild
I have recently been thinking about how much of our adult life is spent
overcoming our childhood. Are you stuck in a pattern of negative thoughts
and actions? What is holding you back from success?
Fun questionnaires, visualizations, insightful commentary, examples from
real life, and a thoughtful approach to conflict resolution makes this book
essential reading. Some of the things you may find yourself doing while
reading this book include:
1. Writing down lists of things you want to change in your life to encourage
more success.
2. Encountering moments of enlightenment about what is really holding you
back from success. I wrote down 12 things I need to change in the next year.
I had a startling revelation on page 85 when I realized how something my
father said to me as a teenager is still affecting how I think about my life
today.
3. Writing down goals for the next year! This book is excellent in this
regard, and it can help you plan out goals for an area of your life. This
may include your career, relationships, sexuality, weight issues, and
health.
The affirmations in this book are especially healing. There is also a
stunningly beautiful 8-page love letter that expresses the deepest heart
desires anyone could ever feel or try to express. Rewriting the letter while
including some of the topics of high concern could create one of the best
love letters you ever give someone.
"All You Need Is HART (Holistic And Rapid Transformation)" is truly based on
accepting yourself and being brave enough to love who you truly are as a
soul. Helene Rothschild gives guidance and presents a safe, comforting place
of acceptance where you can grow, change, and become more successful in
every area of your life. I found this book to be a highly empowering read,
and I believe this book will change your life in dramatic and healing ways.
