*** Article: How to **Really Want** to Meditate in 3 Easy Steps - By Dr.
Rebbie Straubing ***
----------------------------------------------------

Many books will teach you how to meditate.

I'd like to teach you how to **really want** to meditate.

You may already want to meditate...

...but not really.

When you **really want* to meditate, some amazing things happen. I'll tell
you about that in a minute. First, I'd like to ask you 3 questions:

(1) Have you ever started a meditation practice only to gradually drop off?

(2) Have you read books on meditation, tried what they taught you, and then
left it for months at a time?

(3) Do you follow a path that recommends meditation, but you just can't seem
to get yourself to do it consistently?

If you answered "yes" to any one of these questions, please read on.

Amazing Things Happen

When you **really want** to meditate, your meditation becomes deep and
consistent. All the well-known benefits (and some not so well-known
benefits) of meditation become yours on a daily basis.

* Your meditation practice becomes your main healing modality when you're
sick.
* Your meditation practice becomes your link to financial abundance.
* Emotional stability, inner peace, and creativity dominate your
personality.
* Your innate sense of joy and freedom become your path.
* You express your talents in ever expanding ways.

Law of Attraction and the Desire to Meditate

Law of Attraction is always bringing things of a like vibration together.
Thoughts attract thoughts. The first simple and easy step that leads you to
**really want** to meditate is to engage Law of Attraction. We'll start with
your current desire to meditate and transform it into something that can
move mountains.

Step 1:

Asking yourself why you want to meditate. Make a list of the reasons. Here
are some examples.

To access:

1. joy
2. wisdom
3. inner peace
4. unconditional love
5. compassion
6. kindness
7. clarity
8. balance
9. generosity
10. integrity
11. empowerment
12. to be more truly yourself

To promote inner healing:

1. physically
2. emotionally
3. regarding addictions
4. regarding relationships
5. regarding past traumas
6. regarding body image

To promote harmonious relationships with:

1. partner or spouse
2. children
3. parents
4. siblings
5. co-workers
6. employers
7. employees
8. health care providers
9. landlords
10. tenants
11. clients
12. customers

To open to material well-being:

1. success in career or profession
2. financial prosperity
3. acknowledgement of your art
4. appreciation of your work
5. ease of material wealth
6. alignment with universal abundance

Write down the ones that mean the most to you on post-its and place them in
your home, office, car, and anywhere else you go on a regular basis.

Write them like this: "Meditation brings me ____." It may seem silly at
first, but just do it. "Meditation brings me joy." "Meditation brings me
clients." "Meditation brings me excellent health." "Meditation brings me
loving relationships." Contemplate and affirm your phrases throughout the
day.

Through these little post-it contemplations, you become attracted to
meditation, and it becomes attracted to you.

Step 2: Forgive Yourself

Most systems of meditation ask you to take a big leap from your everyday
mind into meditation. They ask you to sit down and begin. Just like that.

That's great if you can do it. But if you can't, it's not your fault.
There's a very good reason.

It's because you have no ramp.

Trying to rise from your everyday mind to the purer tone of meditation
without a ramp is like trying to get your car from street level to the first
story of a parking garage without a ramp. It's not easy.

So, if you've tried and failed, forgive yourself and acknowledge that the
problem was not you. The problem was that you didn't have a ramp.

Step 3: Get a Ramp

A ramp can be any form of preparation for meditation. It provides the key to
**really wanting** to meditate by making it attainable. The most effective
ramp I know is inner alignment. Since the process is interesting and
immediately rewarding, it is something you want to come back to day after
day. Eventually you realize that you have a regular meditation practice with
all the profound benefits.

Meditation can be the most difficult thing in the world OR it can be easy.
Inner alignment makes it easy. And when it's easy, you may find that you
**really want** to meditate.

*** Article: The Speed of Trust: The One Thing That Changes Everything - By
Stephen M.R. Covey ***
----------------------------------------------------

Have you ever trusted someone -- and gotten "burned?" Have you ever failed
to trust someone and missed significant opportunities as a result? The
practical issues with regard to extending trust are these: How do you know
when to trust somebody? And how can you extend trust to people in ways that
create rich rewards without taking inordinate risk?

When you're dealing with trust, it seems there are two extremes. On one end
of the spectrum, people don't trust enough. They're suspicious. They hold
things close to the vest. Often, the only people they really trust are
themselves. On the other end, people are too trusting. They're totally
gullible. They believe anyone, trust everyone. They have a simplistic, naive
view of the world, and they don't even really think (except superficially)
about the need to protect their interests.

Extending trust can bring great results. It also creates the possibility of
significant risk. The decision to trust or not to trust is always an issue
of managing risk and return. So how do you hit the "sweet spot"? How do you
extend trust in a way that maximizes the dividends and minimizes the risk?

Life is filled with risk. However, as noted historian and law professor
Stephen Carter has observed: "Civility has two parts: generosity when it is
costly, and trust, even when there is risk." The objective, then, is not to
avoid risk. In the first place, you can't; and in the second place, you
wouldn't want to because risk taking is an essential part of life and
leadership. Instead, the objective is to manage risk wisely -- to extend
trust in a way that will avoid the "taxes" and create the greatest
"dividends" over time.

Learning how to extend what I call "Smart Trust" is a function of two
factors -- your propensity to trust and your analysis. "Propensity to trust"
is primarily a matter of the heart. It's the tendency, inclination, or
predisposition to believe that people are worthy of trust and a desire to
extend it to them freely. "Analysis" is primarily a matter of the mind. It's
the ability to analyze, evaluate, theorize, consider implications and
possibilities, and come up with logical decisions and solutions.

As you think about these two factors -- "propensity to trust" and "analysis"
-- how would you rate yourself on each? Do you typically tend to trust
people easily -- or do you tend to be suspicious and hold things close? Do
you tend to analyze, theorize, and ponder over things -- or do you give
problems your cursory attention and then move on?

While extending trust to other people always brings with it some risk, the
often greater risk that's frequently ignored is what happens when managers
DON'T extend trust to others. These managers usually incur much larger taxes
than they think -- including bureaucracy, politics, disengagement, and
turnover -- and they often lose the dividends that flow from extending
trust, such as innovation, collaboration, partnering, and loyalty. Sadly,
their suspicion sometimes even helps produce the very behaviors they fear,
which further validates their suspicion. By treating people as if they can't
be trusted, they help to create a collusive, downward cycle of distrust. And
this is one reason why -- in this "flat world" global economy -- not
trusting people is often the greatest risk of all.

With regard to "propensity to trust," I once knew a business owner who was
so suspicious that his employees might be stealing from him, that he would
literally interrogate them almost daily. He would even do occasional spot
"frisk checks" when they left the office. This man was convinced that people
were trying to steal from him. In reality, no one was, but his suspicious
actions drove away his most talented people who wouldn't tolerate working in
such a distrustful environment or for such a suspicious boss.

With regard to "analysis," it's helpful to consider three vital variables,
which you can do by asking these questions:

1. What is the opportunity (the situation or task at hand)?
2. What is the risk involved? (Possible outcomes? Likelihood of outcomes?
Importance of outcomes?)
3. What is the credibility (character and competence) of the people
involved?

Smart Trust doesn't mean that you extend trust to everyone. Based on the
circumstances, your judgment may be to not extend trust or to extend only a
limited measure of trust. In extending trust, the general guideline is to
extend trust conditionally to those who are earning it and abundantly to
those who have already done so. Keep in mind that even when you extend trust
abundantly, there should still always be clear expectations and
accountability because those are principles that actually enhance trust.

I affirm that in our "flat world" economy, the ability to establish, grow,
extend, and restore trust is the key professional and personal competency of
our time. And the ability to exercise Smart Trust is a vital part of that
competency. It will enable you to create a powerful balance and synergy
between analysis and the propensity to trust, which, in turn, will produce
the judgment that enables you to effectively leverage yourself and to
inspire the talent, creativity, synergy, and highest contribution of others.

*** Book Review: Rooted in the Infinite: The Yoga of Alignment - By Dr.
Rebbie Straubing ***
------------------------------------------------------------

Rebbie Straubing's first book is wonderful. In this easy-to-read and clearly
written text, Straubing describes her system of YOFA, the yoga of alignment.
She uses the analogy of a garden to describe the stages one goes through in
reaching inner enlightenment, which leads to inner peace and healing. Her
technique of using three points of connection, the X, Y, and Z-axes which
all intersect at the "root" of consciousness, puts meditation into a
framework that makes sense. And she includes the chakra system, combining
them all together in a homogenous energetic mix of mind, body, and soul
connection that moves us into enhanced transcendent experience. The
exercises at the end of the book complement the information in the early
chapters. Meditation is now something that everyone can align themselves
with easily and effortlessly. Of course, being a big Abraham fan, I love her
abundant use of their teachings throughout the book. They have obviously
been a big influence in her life and in enhancing the creation of this most
valuable learning tool.

Straubing uses the analogy of the garden to teach. She brings it all
together in the final chapter when she writes, "The inner garden that we
have been tending turns out to be the garden of the Self and it exists only
at that extraordinary point where here, now and being intersect. We water
this garden by pouring our uninterrupted pure consciousness on its fertile
ground. We cultivate with the practices of concentration and meditation,
which weed out conflicts in our vibration and bring forward the sweet fruit
of our hearts' desires." I recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn
meditation or to enhance their current meditation practice and also for
novices just beginning to understand universal flow.

Thanks, Rebbie, for bringing us a practical, easy-to-use technique to
brighten and lighten our path. --Cindy Saul, phenomeNEWS.com
