Part 1: Self Improvement 101: The 62 Essential Truths about Improving Your Life - by David Riklan

Welcome to Part 1 of a 6-Part series.

Part 1: The Seven Critical Keys to Goal Setting - by David Riklan.

This 6-Part series will directly assist you with your primary task: TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE!

1. WHO WROTE THIS 6-PART SERIES?

My name is David Riklan, and I am the President and Co-Founder of SelfGrowth.com -the Internet Self Improvement Portal-and the author of the new Self Improvement Encyclopedia, "Self Improvement: The Top 101 Experts That Help Improve Our Lives."

2. WHY DID I WRITE THIS SERIES?

Everybody that I speak to wants to improve their life, but many of them are faced with the same questions:

A. What is the best way to start improving my life?

B. What are the best resources for me?

C. Which book should I read first?

D. Which seminar should I go to?

E. Should I listen to an audio program from my car?

F. What is the best website to go to?

This FREE 6-Part series is designed to help you answer these questions.

 3. SO, WHAT DO WE DO NOW?

Napoleon Hill said that "Desire Is the Starting Point of All Achievement." Do you have the desire? If you are reading this, you hopefully have at least some "Desire" to change. Hopefully, lots of desire!

4. You need to start by asking yourself: "What is it that I want? What exactly do I want?" Or for some people: "What don't I want?" This is a crucial question and the perfect starting point for finding the resources that you need.

5. WAIT A MINUTE: Maybe, you don't know what you want. Maybe, you have no idea what you want. If you think that you fit into this category, I want to tell you that you are ABSOLUTELY wrong. What you want might not be very specific yet, but I'm sure there is something there. YOU MIGHT WANT TO SIMPLY CHANGE. YOU MIGHT WANT TO FIND OUT WHAT YOU REALLY WANT. YOU MIGHT WANT TO BE HAPPY. YOU MIGHT JUST WANT A BETTER LIFE. YOU MIGHT WANT TO FIND OUT YOUR LIFE'S PURPOSE. No matter how general or how specific this is, you need to start somewhere.

YOU HAVE TO START TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION: WHAT DO YOU WANT?

***STEP #1: Figuring Out What You Want

Suggestions for Step 1:

1. Become clear on what it is you want for your life. Ask yourself three questions:

A. What do I have that I want? This helps you appreciate your current life. (i.e.-good education, close friends, health, home) B. What do I have or tolerate that I don't want? These things detract from your happiness. (i.e.-large debts, abusive friends, dead end job) C. What don't I have that I want? This will greatly improve the quality of your life. (i.e.-more confidence, closer friends, more money in the bank)

2. Ask your friends and co-workers what they want. This might help you generate some ideas.

3. Write down a complete list of possible things that you want. You can call it brainstorming or idea generation. Nothing is too silly. Nothing is too ridiculous. Just write it down. Save your criticism and evaluation for later. Write whatever comes to your mind.

4. When answering these questions, think in terms of your home. life, your family life, your career, your health, your social life, your physique, your hobbies, your community, your world, and just about anything else that comes to mind.

5. Go BIG! What are your life dreams? Do you know what your ideal life would be like?

6. Make sure to write it all down and try to be as specific as possible.

7. Review and prioritize. The next step is to review all of your goals and prioritize them. Decide what is really important to you and what you really want to achieve.

After you have completed Step 1, Part 2: Self Improvement 101: The 62 Essential Truths about Improving Your Life will be emailed to you.
