Now that many of the resolutions you made in the initial frenzy of the New Year may have fallen away, it's the perfect time to really evaluate what you want this year to mean for you. What do you want to be, do and have in 2009?

Life can change in an instant, whether as the result of something over which we have no control, like a death or lay off, or because we decided we will make a change, like having a baby or starting a business. We often see our goals as long term future oriented things. Some aspects of our goals can take time but the internal change that precedes the goal can, and often is, instantaneous.

For example, when you start a business, although getting it up and running takes some time, becoming a "business owner" or "entrepreneur" happens the minute you make the decision to start your business.

The place to start in making a new start in 2009 is to check in with how you see yourself. How do you describe who you are? Who are you, really? Who do you want to be? How do you want to feel? What do you want to be known for? These are the questions that will take you to the heart of what will make this year YOUR year.

In making any change or fresh new start, begin by aligning your inner and outer wisdom and power to deliberately create your life. Think first about who, what and why you want to "be" and only then take the actions that you are inspired to take. You will find that leaving the action taking step until the end of the process actually gets you where you want to be faster, easier and more joyfully.
