Forgiving infidelity is something a lot of people cannot understand or don't think is possible. But anything is possible if you want it badly enough.

When your loved one has cheated on you one of the most difficult questions to deal with is "Can I ever forgive them". Forgiving your partner or spouse may be the most difficult part of recovering from infidelity, but it is a critical step in being able to move on with your relationship or marriage, if that's what you want.

Forgiving infidelity is a difficult choice to make. That's why we always recommend that you take time out to assess what you really want and what's best for you, not anyone else, before rushing into any decisions.

But if your relationship or marriage is to survive infidelity and you truly want to move forwards as a couple it is only possible if you are able to forgive your partner completely. This doesn't mean forgetting what your partner did or condoning it though.

Is it really possible to forgive a person who has hurt you so deeply and betrayed your trust in such a terrible way? Forgiving infidelity is a hard process to move through, both individually and as a couple, but it is a fact that many relationships and marriages actually thrive after infidelity. Forgiving infidelity involves strength and guidance, especially as infidelity often attacks a person's self esteem.

Forgiveness is not just about helping the offending partner or spouse to feel better, it's about helping yourself too so that you can move on. Incidentally this applies even if you were to choose to leave your relationship or marriage, because if you can't forgive you will forever be the victim.

If you can't forgive your partner you will never be able to truly love them. And if you can never truly love them what foundation is that for a relationship or marriage?
