This article is meant to help you, the middle age boomer to understand that it is not too late to get your act together. Your health, attitude and physical appearance need an adjustment. It’s no longer about being that svelte hottie that you once were. It is about the status of your current health, longevity and anti-aging and how it affects your future and your family.
The first part needs to be about changing attitude about self. I keep hearing comments of how expensive a gym membership can be and I’m too tired to use it anyway. I don’t have time to exercise or cook good foods. Everyone is pulling me in all directions and of course, my favorite excuse is that my family comes first. The best one I’ve ever heard is “I’m getting too old to care and too tired and stiff to try” or “ it’s in my genes anyway so why fight it?”
So, let’s do a little attitude adjustment right here, right now. Ask yourself how long you want to be here on this earth, interacting with your family, in a healthy manner? Are you willing to become the caretaker of the reflection in the mirror? How about treating your self at least equally as well as you do others?
You are a valuable entity. Others would be lost without you. So, why is it that you are not taking better care of your self. When pets or children perform to your liking, they get prizes, treats or compliments as your reaction. What do you do for your self?
Start with small goals. Take some time to study who you are now. Look in the mirror and have a conversation with the thoughts that come up. Become your own best friend. Do something for self that will get you to smile. Look for one thing that you admire about yourself and enhance it. Dress up for yourself today. Wear what you know looks great just because you can. Don’t wait for others to invite you or compliment you. Do it for yourself and know that you are worth it!
Take stock of where you are in the areas of time, finances, locality and health issues. Look for the smallest pieces to start your self worth attitude change. Look at one thing you can start today to make a difference. Everyday compliment yourself on five things you feel you have accomplished that day or in your life. You are no longer waiting for positive reinforcement from outside yourself as it never comes until you acknowledge your self first. The one person that knows what you accomplish and do in a day is YOU.
This attitude adjustment starts with you. Know that you are a valuable, awesome individual with so much to offer. Compliment your self on finding the best friend you’ll ever have, YOU.
