Website copywriting secrets – how being boring will help you be found online.

To be found on line by prospective clients we need to rank high in search engines.

How many times have you given at page three on Google when searching for something on line?

The search engine robots must view your web page as being relevant to what your prospective client was searching for.
So how do you make sure that your copywriting is relevant and that your page is able to be found above your competition when your prospective clients are searching for your products and services?

This is where your brand can be boring. Boring? Yes, boring through repeating your keywords – the words your ideal clients will be using to search for your services and solutions - in your copywriting.

You can identify the keywords that your prospective clients search for using tools such as Overture (http://www.inventory.overture.com) or Good Key Words (http://www.goodkeywords.com), both of which are free tools.

These tools will help you identify how many times in the last month someone has used a term to search on line and you will be surprised, the words you think people use to search for your services and products is often not that they use!
But how many times to do you repeat your keywords?

Perhaps you have heard the term ‘keyword density’? This is a number that identifies the percentage of your page copy that is made up by your given keyword(s).

How dense your keywords need to appear on your page depends on how competitive your phrase is. If a lot of other websites are competing for this phrase and they’re highly optimised, you’ll need more repetitions of your key words in your copywriting.

It is recommended that you repeat your keywords 3-6 times for every 200 words on the page. This includes every word on the page.

There are a number of other features to consider; however starting with making sure that the key words that your ideal clients search for you by is repeated in your web copywriting including the headlines and sub headings will put you on the fast track to being found on line ahead of your competition.
