As I walk, I see all that life offers and what others give. I notice everything that surrounds me, both beauty and menace. I am deeply moved by random acts of kindness that I witness; others helping others in need, just because.
I see the beauty in the flowers and trees that mother earth has given us. I take notice of the rocks in streams and the life that is sustained in the water. I also take notice how others deface the beautiful landscape.
As I walk to school I notice the freshly mowed grass and the flowers lined up perfectly. The sweet aroma fills the air. I also take notice of littered streets that if picked up, would add more beauty. I see people talking in the street, their laughter makes me smile. I also take notice of a fight between two people that had spilled out into the street. Their yelling and screaming filled the air.
I walk further closer to my school and notice children running and playing. I take notice of the people on the corner trying to pick on kids and others who try to sell their drugs to others going by.
As I walk down a long, lonely road, the dirt has been lifted into the air, making it a dust storm. The walk is long, but I am determined to get there. There in the middle of one small village is my destination. I meet up with friends and we share stories.
It doesn’t matter where you live, or what hardships you endure. Take notice of your surroundings and make it better. The smallest of efforts can bring about huge change. By taking a good look around, it will help you determine what you want your walk to look like, the conversations that you will have, and eventually it will have an impact on the life that you want to lead.
For every negative there is always a positive. Some days it might be harder to find, you will just have to look harder, but it’s there. We are given just one; one day, one life, and one moment. Make peace and not war, give life do not take it away. Be responsible for our earth, we only have one.
Just as you see others, take the time to see yourself. Kindness not greed, give rather than receive, and help and not hinder.
This is what a child might see, anywhere in the world.
