Positive affirmations are short, positive statements that you repeat to yourself everyday over a period of time. These affirmations may be not be exactly true at the moment you are saying them. But after repeating them to yourself after a period of time, your subconscious mind will begin to believe them, and as a result, your internal beliefs about reality will change.

Your internal beliefs determine what your perception of reality is. When these internal beliefs change, your perception of reality does as well.

Affirmations are great for "installing" any empowering belief you would like to have that will make it easier for you to reach your goal. They work even without the use of EFT. But with EFT, they can be made much more powerful.

Self improvement advice dealing with affirmations usually ask you to choose an affirmation related to your goal, and simply repeat it yourself everyday for some time period, until it becomes part of your belief system.

For example, you might repeat to yourself everyday:

"I am becoming more confident in public speaking"

Or even:

"I am a confident public speaker"

When you first begin to repeat these to yourself, they might not be true. You'll actually feel some kind of resistance to them inside of you. You might also hear an inner voice saying "Yeah right!"

But if you are persistent with affirming these statements for a period of time, they will eventually overcome the resistance and "sink in" your subconscious mind. It might sound strange, but the human mind is amazing that way.

Notice that I still didn't even bring up EFT yet. But I will now.

Going back to the resistance topic, I said that if you keep affirming a certain positive statement to yourself for a period of time, these statements will overcome the resistance. The thing is, this might a take a while to happen. But since you now know about EFT, you can speed up the process by tapping on the resistance itself.

For example, going back to the public speaking issue, you might want tap on the resistance by saying:

"Even though I don't believe that I am a confident public speaker because I am still scared of it, I deeply and completely accept myself"

Do some rounds of tapping and repeat if necessary, then try affirming again.

Is the resistance still there? If it is, then do some more tapping. If it's gone, then be sure that your positive affirmations now have become way more effective.

Author's Bio:

For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in psychology and human behavior. At the same time, I've also had a natural tendency to want to help others. I think I was about 6 years old when my young mind figured out that helping someone else made ME feel good!

Because of my passion for psychology, I spent the early part of my 20s reading any psychology book or online article that I can find. As one book lead to the next, I began noticing that I was more interested the practical side of this information. More specifically, how to use this information to make me a better person. From then on, I discovered the huge world of personal development.

I mentioned that I also always loved helping others. And since my main interest was personal development, I figured that the best outlet for my passion was not just to help myself, but to help others develop themselves as well.

A few years ago, I came across EFT. It wasn't long before I was using it everyday. I quickly realized that EFT, in my opinion, is one of the most life changing tools that anyone could learn.
