Just who in the world were "The Nephilim"? According to The Holy Scriptures of the Old Testament, these were the "Giants" born as a result of procreation between beings called "Sons of God" (mightiest of fallen angels) and the "Daughters of Men". Some would attempt to say this is simply a mistake of biblical interpretation. The main verses regarding this very strange occurrence, which happened more than once, is found in the sixth chapter of Genesis, verses 1-4 KJV. Several modernized translations of God's Word, say this event did in fact happen. The New International Version says within those 4 verses in Genesis, quote:"...the sons of God married the daughters of humans...". This wording, also translated in the Septuagint (a Hebrew to Greek rendering), states that this event did indeed involve the Bene-Elohim, meaning "Sons of God". This is an order of powerful angels and/or archangels who sinned (2 Peter 2:4). Their resulting children with humans, called Nephilim, also has the meaning - "the fallen ones". A scripture found in the one-chapter Book of Jude, may also be referring to this. Jude 1:7, states - “Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after STRANGE FLESH, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.”

Note also, men living in Sodom and Gomorrah wanted to rape the three angels (males) who came to Lot and his family to deliver them out of the area because God was going to destroy it by fire. The angels supernaturally blinded those men who wanted to sexually assault them. QUOTE: Genesis 19:11 "And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door." Stated in the Greek language, just as it is stated in our still commonly-used King James Version, it also recognizes that evil, mighty archangels, "beings from the spirit world" - (See The Living Bible Translation), did in fact procreate with human females. YES, this is a very strange and unusual thing to even ponder or think about. Regardless, as this was happening, God began warning the humans through His Prophet of the time - Noah, that the world would be destroyed by flood. All earthly living things, except for Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives (8 people) would die. The bloodline of many people within the human race, was defiled by the unholy procreation between a hierarchy of mighty angels of a specific order called "Sons of God" and human females. This was a satanic attempt to prevent the future birth if Jesus Christ. The grace period (time allowed for repentance) given by God was 120 years before he would destroy all living things on the earth by flood (Genesis 6:3).

There are people who believe God was setting a new limit on the age humans could reach, as opposed to the 800-plus and 900-plus years of age people were reaching for many generations previous and following, to include Adam and Eve. It was, rather a respite of 120 years granted instead. The human race was being given chance for repentance of this grievous sin humans and Sons of God were committing, which I believe began with humans making gods/idols of these fallen archangels. These false gods were an attempt by these satanic beings, for distracting and pulling-away, people from the only true God. Isaiah 45:5 says: "I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me". God is Triune, containing three personalities - The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost - The Holy Trinity/Godhead but He is still ONE GOD.

Enoch being the seventh man born of Adam and Eve is quoted from (the Book of Enoch), by the Apostle Jude in his own epistle. Enoch was greatly loved by God and he actually walked with Enoch on earth but eventually took him up to Heaven, when he was age-365. This, could possibly have been to keep Enoch from being on Earth, when the flood of Noah's day would occur a few centuries later. The son born to Enoch, before God took him off the Earth, was another righteous man - named Methusaleh, who had a lifespan, longer than any other man in history (dying at 969 years). He died - the same year the flood of Noah's day came to destroy all livings things, with exception of Noah's family. The Book of Enoch (found amongst The Dead Sea Scrolls), reveals him writing about "The Watchers" - the 1st group of fallen archangels who procreated with human women, which resulted in giants being born on earth. These Nephilim, were such mighty and renowned beings, that they are found in the mythology of Greece and many other countries. While likely embellished-on, they were still very real beings; Goliath, whom David slew/killed and his five brothers, being among these Nephilim. Genesis 6:4 says: “There were giants in the earth in those days; and also AFTER THAT, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.”

What does this Old Testament scripture in Genesis mean by "also after that", these angle-men were born to people who worshiped/idolized and procreated with these fallen Sons of God? It obviously means this problem has at times recurred, even at latter times following Noah's flood. QUOTE: Numbers 13:33 (ASV) "And there we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come of the Nephilim: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight." This is a quote from 10 of the 12 spies who looked into the "Promised Land" by crossing its border. God was bringing the Israelites to this long awaited time, for them to take their promised land from a society of Giants/Nephilim called the "Anakites". It was to be the first-entrance into the place God would provide for them, as his chosen people but they would have to militarily destroy the Anakites. The men who spied-out the land, with exception of Joshua and Caleb were too fearful of the giants to take the land God promised them. Eventually the Israelites did enter their promised land. Israel and its capital - Jerusalem, would bless all other nations, at the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ Our Savior, once the Jews/Israelites established their place in the land. There are ministers in many denominations of the Christian Church, as well as Jewish scholars, who have strong belief, in that, there will be a return of Nephilim. This will be an occurring fulfillment of end-time Bible Prophecy. The reason for this belief is regarding the fact that sin will be as prevalent and wicked, just before The SECOND COMING of Jesus Christ, as it was in the days before the flood of Noah's day came. QUOTE: "But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." Matthew 24:37.

Author's Bio:

I am a graduate of Liberty University (1996) for completion of theological studies but consider myself a "Bapticostal". Bible studies are one of my most-covered book-subjects. I am however, careful to only address those subjects I believe God has given me correct revelation on. I was a Christian Youth Minister, beginning in the 1980s for approximately 20 years (between youth ministries I served in other church capacities as well). I was also a guest speaker to churches, who invited me to present important Bible teachings to their evangelical congregations, during those same years. I am a redeemed man, who has received salvation by acceptance of Jesus Christ and what he did for me in shedding his blood and dying for me on the cross and in his resurrection from the dead, giving me the promise of eternal life, purely by grace (not due to anything I have done, other than to accept it freely).
