Somewhere, lost in the shuffle, is a person who has no part in anything other than just trying to exist is this world. This is a person who knows the true meaning of the word struggle. Their main goal in life is just to survive one more day on this earth. This person has no internet, the food they have is scarce, no doctor or dentist visits, their income is so low that it is unimaginable. They live among thieves and violence. They my friend, are the innocent.
The Great Depression of 1929 taught us that it really doesn’t matter what we have, it be gone tomorrow. We learned the value of many things; work, love, people, food and possessions. No one wasted anything back then. Take a good look at how our world has changed since then. How far have we come?
The innocent can be found around the globe; in your house, in a community, a state or any country. Hatred, hunger, murderers and thieves can be found around the globe. What about all of the innocent people that are in the web of human trafficking? What about the innocent prostituting themselves just to be able to eat? It happens, all of it happens somewhere on this gigantic globe we call earth.
We are approaching the year 2016. We have to make change happen; we have to think of things and ways to help the innocent learn to live, not just survive. Life has been nothing but a struggle for so many for so long. Isn’t it time to change things? Isn’t it time for those to know what life can be and to experience it?
Our world is so much bigger than just the people that we see. Our world is bigger than the places that we visit. Our world is about equality and each man, woman and child realizing that. Our world is more than someone’s ethnic group or religion; it is about having food, water, education and feeling safe. Every person should be entitled to that. It is almost the year 2016 and we haven’t realized this yet. Our world is not about sporting the latest trends; it’s about making sure everyone is safe and warm at night. Our world is not about the fastest cars, it’s about making sure that the sick and the poor are able to see a doctor. Our world is more than huge houses when we have children sleeping on bare floors. Our world is more than nice vacations when there are people who don’t have anything to eat. You should give to those in need; you have to do your part by helping others, and then enjoy the things you like. The reality is, children lose their innocence by the struggles of life. Some of the children in our world have endured pain beyond measure.
It is my wish that with each passing day we pull all of our resources together so we can save the innocent in our world. Our children are our future. What we do today can make a difference in someone’s life. The age of entitlement is over; with each passing day more and more are realizing it. I may not see the world live as one in my lifetime, but I would hope that with each new day, our world strives towards it. I pray that no person ever goes hungry or cold. I pray that no child will be preyed upon. I pray for peace. I pray that our world finds solace in each other, all across the lands. It is almost 2016, isn’t it time things changed?
“A babe in the house is a well-spring of pleasure, a messenger of peace and love, a resting place for innocence on earth, a link between angels and men.”~Martin Farquhar Tupper
The innocent reside in every country, their language is universal, and they pray for hope and change. Let 2016 be a time for that change.
